I know I'm getting ahead of events here, but I was wondering what you guys think. We've got a bunch of guys signed through 07. As I understand it, the Knicks would like to try to build a winning team around Houston as long as he's around. If McDyess plays well, he'd be critical to that strategy.

On the other hand, can his knee hold up

I voted yes, but I would want them to sign him to a 1 or 2 year deal. Maybe with a team option or an injury clause...
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I vote yes as well. Healthy, he's the best strong forward we have.

Man, waiting for Dice to play again is about all we've got to look forward too at this point.

Resigning Dyess right now would be the smartest move the front office could make right now. We are already locked in to other players, so its not like its going to affect our cap situation. However, giving Antonio McDyess an extension for atleast 2 years would give him confidence and help him mentally overcome his injury. His body is healed, but if he feels unwanted because he wasnt offered an extension, he wouldnt even want to play anymore.

I don't think we should give him an extension, with our luck he would get hurt again. Once his contract is over with, let him go.

I would let him walk unless he performs like his old self - even then I would put an injury clause in there because his knee is definitely damaged goods. Right now it would be rediculous to offer him anything since the man has never performed in an NY uniform. He has to show something before the $$$ flow into his pockets.

Most likely, he probably won't play like his old self. Based on that, i would let him walk and give the opportunity to the other forwards such as Sweetney and Lampe.. Remember, Thats 13.5mm off the payroll for next yr.
