Lots of Jets fans are hot for Jay Cutler, a lot of them also think that Cutler is not a championship caliber player because his skill level leads him to take risky throws and make mistakes.

The back page of the Post has a warning to the Jets today to stay away from Cutler.

That brings me to our own Nate Robinson and his upcoming RFA status.

Regardless of the money (unless its really in our favor) how can we move forward with Nate unless you believe that he can be a player who will eventually cut down on his mistakes, be able to play the point well, and improve his defense?

Dude is our QB and puts up serious numbers, but hasn't made us a winner.

If we could draft Evans (giant physical combo guard) and Thabby (giant not-so physical center) then I could see Nate being key to the team's future because he could then pressure the ball.

That's like saying if we could get a great defense, and a great running game you could cover up Cutler's warts.

Could we be better off getting a more conventional, solid player, just like Denver was trying to get Cassel?
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

When did MDA chew Nate out on the sidelines? I think it was the Milwaukee game, where he had seven assists but seven turnovers... since then, 6:0, 7:4, 7:1 or 20:5 or 4:1.

This is really the number of his I'm most interested in, as if he can protect the ball, he's a point guard. If he's a point guard, he'll be starting calibur point because of his speed and ability to separate.

If he reverts, he isn't a pointguard, and then he becomes expendable because the Knicks as a franchise are not in a position where they should look to lock up a sixth man. Those resources should be used on starters.

Everything else aside, I want to address this line. Is it Nate's fault or the team's fault for the Knicks' record? Same goes for DLee and other.

Is KG a winner now or was he back in the dog days of the TWolves? Same player. How about Mo Williams?

KG wasn't exactly a loser in Minny either, but he needed "the Truth" to get him to the next level.

I mean, it sure is CP3's fault that they win, it sure is Deron's fault that Utah wins. Think about guards that hold the ball as much as Nate. Nash, Kobe, LeBron, Johnson... their teams are winning when they hold the ball. Baron holds the ball like that. He got tons of crap with the Hornets when he was one of the biggest team killers I've seen, and tons of credit with the Warriors when he was completely different.

Nate takes us from one of the worst teams in history over the last few years, to somewhat competitive, but I do think that there is a ceiling to what he can do as a starter.

it's not Nate or Lee's fault for being limited in terms of their talent & ability, & it's not the Knicks' fault for drafting them either... both were very good value picks for where they got taken... but if the Knicks decide to sign both these guys to lucrative longterm deals & try to build around them then it will be the team's fault for not recognizing their limitations.
