I watched last night's game streamed, and as a result I watched the Cavs' broadcast. Austin Carr is their play-by-play guy, and I'd sya he has a high reputation around the league for analysis.
Anyway, last night he said that the Knicks will absolutely build around Al Harrington, David Lee, Nate Robinson, and a fourth (can't remember if it was Chandler or Gallo, but I suppose it doesn't matter as if one is included, the other should be too). He also was complimentary about the team's future when mentioning those four.
I thought it was interesting, as we can't agree if Lee and Nate are keepers, yet a NCAA Hall of Famer whose jersey is retired by the Cavs firmly and matter-of-factly stated we have four keepers.
I guess the question is, do we have a core? Do we only need to add one piece? And if greats and other teams think we have keepers, do we keep them or trade them when their value is perceived to be high?
I watched the Cav's feed via direct tv as well -- I'm pretty sure Carr said Al was probably 1-4 guys (naming Lee, Nate and Chandler) and forgetting Gallo. That said - not sure Austin was taking contracts and cap into full consideration and he really didn't give guys like Duhon much thought.
I watch a # of games where the other teams announcers do the game and they are typically VERY complimentary towards our system and D'Antoni. They almost always point to the relentlessness at which we attack aggressively and quickly on the offensive end. I just wish we'd stop chucking so many 3s -- I'm sure D'Anotoni would prefer less of them as well.
All we are is Mike D system... This bunch with any other coach will suck badly.
I am not sure how it will work out with superstars in his system. It may not work out at all.
Mike needs players who will execute and sacrifice their game in the process.
The only supper on the market to do just this is Bron, and looks like he will stay put home.
If Mike can build championship team one day, this will be offensive version of Pistons, if this is at all possible...
Hopefully Stern and Co will make it possible...
