I cannot believe that a grown man making millions of dollars can argue that something should be allowed because "it's a move I've always done." Doesn't the King have loyal minions who review his higlights and possibly point out to him that he's taking 3, sometimes 4 steps without a dribble before he gets to the basket?

Or maybe that would get you out of a job as a loyal minion.

crab dribble is probably high in chloresterol, too...

The "Crab Dribble" is a travel, plain and simple. LBJ got called for a travel at the end of a game, and he basically told reporters he "used a crab dribble, which is legal." Clearly it ain't, because they ammended the rule book.

Ah well, just something else for these terrible refs to mess up (again)

Looks like Lebron takes 4 steps in this clip. Lebron calls it a hesitation, but he clearly is walking

I still don't get it....Hop step? Wade has his open version, Kobe, Ewing, Shaq, basically every major foce in the league does the same thing and never get called for it. Now its called a crab dribble?

That's weak. The guy has more talent than anyone and he wants the league to change the rules to make it easier for him.

eny,

i think the crab dribble is used when you crouch over a bit, which is used often when you are posting someone up, to lead them in one direction, and maybe get around them where with a pivot and use a hop step.

you can also lead them one way, and then spin back the other way, or fake spinning one way and then come back.

the point is, normally, you have to still be dribbling.

actually, i think ewing's old patented move where he used to drive into the lane was sort of a crab dribble ...and we all know he used to take 3 steps all of the time.

the big issue is the amount of steps lebron (and others now) take, where as traditionally you are supposed to keep your dribble and then take 2 steps.

he's taking 3, but with so many players doing this, i can see why the league is considering changing the rule.

I really don't understand Lebron's explanation. He says he took 2 steps when it's clear as day he took three. I mean, there's no way you can call that 2 steps after he picked up the dribble.

Also the "crab" dribble seems like a carry to me. It's the kind of carry that's subtle enough to avoid a violation, but it's still a carry.

They have been letting people get away with traveling and palming for years, especially when done by the stars. How often do they ever call steps when they are taken as a guy finishing his drive?
