I think this will be a crucial summer and I fully expect this team to be .500 in 2009. I think we will win 35 or 36 this year and make a push next year.
1. Sign Lee for 5/50 million and put him at the power forward.
2. Draft BJ Mullens or Cole Aldrich.or Jordan Hill We have to have a big man that can block shots
3. Resign Nate for no more than 5 a year or trade him for a draft pick.
4. Put Gallinari at the three and lets see what he can do.
5. I think Wilson is the one I doubt the most no real feel for the game and very inconsistent. play him at the two and see if he is the right fit for the future.
6. Ideally sign a Joe Johnson, or Lebron James, or Chris Bosh in 2010.
7. In 2011 either use the expirings for a big time player or be a free agent player again.

i'd be fine w/that plan but i don't agree that Chandler is the one that raises the most doubt... IMO he's the one guy i can see really growing into a star player because he plays on both sides of the ball well... he's still inconsistent as most young players are but the kid has all the tools, work ethic & the mindset to be a very good player in the NBA... he's a pro's pro the way he goes about his business & shows a maturity on the floor that not many young kids do nowadays... he just goes out & plays... no showboating, no posing, no trashtalkin... kid just dunks on guys & goes to the line for the and 1 w/o acting like he just won the damn lottery... that's the type of pro athlete i usually grow to respect... i think Chandler's gonna be a Knick for a long time.

Wade is one man army. Not the guy for Mike and Walsh.
I do not think they will even consider him.

i like this. I would keep Hughes at the 2 spot just a little longer and see which one of Gallo and Wilson earn the 3 spot.

For whatever reason I don't like Joe Johnson. Only really have seen him once or twice this year but he just doesn't seem like a team player, don't know why.

I dont think we can get Wade or Lebron and we need another guard. I am not the biggest fan of Johnson but that is all I think we can get in the summer of george I mean the summer of 2010.

really? wade did great on the d'antoni oriented offense on the olympics.

wade, to me, is a perfect fit for our team. he plays strong defense, creates steals, and loves to hustle the entire game.

also, he had 7 assists last night, and one of the observations made about him by some experts was that miami has played better because wade no longer has to be a one man army. he's trusting his team mates more.

after lebron wade has to be the obvious number 2 pick.

if both are paired together on the knicks (in our dreams, of course) it would be title city us for years (pending they remain healthy).

none of us know what's going to happen or can assess any real probability.

the point is obviously we're pinning for such a move, and maybe it does happen.

it may not too, but if we had to settle for some combo of joe johnson/bosh/amar'e i sure wouldn't complain much at all.

Wade can be different withou Raleys behind his back for sure...
But he needs some strong insurance policy because of his style of play.
With 2 stars team cannot have this... Just a bunch of supporting scrubs.

that's sort of how the celtics worked, the bulls, spurs, and kobe/shaq lakers, and many other title winners.

it's just about having not so much "scrubs" but role players that know/accept their roles and perform them well.

wade is healthy now and there isn't really much indication that he will suddenly get hurt again.

a.i. played all out and was rarely, if ever, hurt, as did spree for us.

i suspect wade's injury potential isn't necessarily as bad as folks think. we'll see over the next year or so.

I say we keep Lee giving him his 9 to 10mill deal. let nate walk but I betcha marcus Williams recently released, takes over Nate's spot during the off -season.

Preparing for 2010, we get the best 2 free- agents out there. Lebron and Wade forming probably the best guard/forward duo since Michael/Scottie.

The Future. GO KNICKS!

I like the plan. I have been pushing for both to be resigned from the get go. It would be prudent to give Nate a quick contract with a player option halfway through. If I am going after FAs with upside Nate would be VERY high on my list. Hate to have to match an offer starting at $8-$9mm per, especially if its frontloaded.

Sign Lee at 5 years $50 million? Wow. That'd be game over again for the franchise.

You realize that if Lee's on a $10 million dollar deal, and you want to sign a Max player in 2010, then you don't have room to sign Nate.

Let's say we use the salary slot for the 2nd Max player and sign Lee and Nate to $11 mil combined per year.

These are the players who have led this team to zero playoff appearances so far and they're going to be leading the team now into the next five years.

Mullens... he's a purely potential guy who can't get on the floor for Ohio State, but let's say we take him. He's not going to be a positive factor for years.

If you're starting Gallo and Wilson, then what do you do with Hughes, Al, Duhon, Jeffries?

Just let them ride pine?

Based on all of the games that they've played together and our resulting win percentage. I think at a minimum you have to deal Lee for picks. We can't keep the same players and just hope that it's going to get better.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)
What I hope Donnie Walsh will do this summer.
