Yeah, I agree --- Melo can be had. I envision something along the lines of Lee/Chandler/and a couple of expirings for Melo and and perhaps a second tier player. That deal seems fair, because it makes financial sense, plus they get a player who can impact right now and a player for the future.

i just dont see how melo makes your team better? he may sell some tix, but if youre after a title and building towards one, i dont see it including him. in the years he has been in the league, he has never amounted to much past a few individual stats. i see him as a team chemistry killer, in denver, in ny, wherever. no thanks to melo....

Back to the original topic. I would be okay with Melo. He would be my next choice after Wade and lebron. For some reason I have no interest in Bosh. I think he's worth it. The key is that you can't make the same mistake as you did with Marbs. You can't give him the keys to the franchise and then hope for him to lead you. he's a great number one guy, but he needs a lot of help and a strong veteran presence.
I just hope that people will like me

Thanks Bippity..I def will take that advice and thanks for showing the hospitality.
jimimou...How can't you see how Melo would make us better. Maybe because he would be the best Knicks since the real King..Bernard that is. Melo is the truth and I really think he'll be in NY. If his wife has any say in the matter he'll be in NY for sure lol. "Why So Serious"

Posted by DaJoka: lol - if his wife has any say...he'll be looking for a second job b/c she'd be spending all his chips on 5th ave man! i think we'd get some more wins with melo, b/c as you pointed out, we havent had a talented player like that in a while. it would be easy for him to look good with this current cast of characters....but overall, i dont believe he is a mature professional...yet. can he be one day, sure. but i think unless you have someone else to keep him in check and focused, i just dont see it....you cant see an inkling of that with all the on and off the court stuff he's gone through? i mean even the other day - when interviewed before the game when he returned from suspension, he couldnt even bring out a simple "i'm sorry" for acting like a babay when carl sub'ed for him and he didnt come out of the game. imagine if someone pulled that **** on an oakley and ewing team? they would each grab an arm and hurl the moron towards the bench....the game is about respect for your team (i.e.: putting them over yourself) and the concept of winning as a team... with what the knicks have gone through over the last 4 years, i just dont know if donnie would want to take a chance on someone that could potentially lead to more negative news articles..... |

for Melo i think at bare minimum the Knicks would have to give up both Lee & Nate AND take back Nene's contract in exchange for an expiring like Al Harrington... i don't buy the idea that all it would take is a package of Al Harrington & either Nate or Lee to get a premier scorer like Melo... that's way too easy.

I'd take Melo in a second...24 y/o borderline superstar. Bip is right, he just needs a better supporting cast. Melo is a G. He's not the problem in Denver, he's the only reason why they are good and competing in such a tough conference. But never underestimate Karl's ability to alienate great talent. Getting Melo is a No brainer, and it would definitely attract another top line free agent.

I think we should start the Melo to NY campaign as soon as the final buzzer sounds in the final game. Unless of course we make the playoffs.

Posted by arkrud:Posted by sebstar: Dude, you have a close to a superstar-level player just entering his prime. Thats a near impossibility to acquire. Filling out the roster is the easy and fun part. A couple of smart trades with our assets and we would already be one of the better teams in the east. My saliva and spit can split thread into fiber and bits/ So trust me I'm as live as it gets.

Posted by jimimou: If Melo's not making their team better, then why have they been winning in the West all these years? Was is Nene that was responsible for all of those wins? If our team played to Denver's level, we'd be above 4th in the East at a minimum. If Denver's looking to get rid of him, I would think by draft time Al and a resigned Lee would look pretty good. If the market's not there for that big a deal for Lee, then add a resigned Nate. Buy a late pick and you could have... Jordan - Melo - Chandler - Hughes - Maynor Bench: Gallo - Duhon - Larry Sanders I actually really like the sound of this rotation. Maynor should be gettable with the #9. Jordan should be gettable if we buy a pick in the early 20's. If Sanders comes out we could get him with Denver's #2, or Taj Gibson if he's not there. Maybe if we trade Nate/Lee/Al, we can ask for Balkman back. I saw him get I think 14 rebounds a few games ago for them. I still don't believe the 2010 hype, so if we can trade for Melo, I'm all for it. Alan Hahn:
Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)
