instead we got stuck with postell frank williams and vujonic the first two pure busts and who knows about vujonic hes not even playing well in the italian leagues and got pushed around by baron davis and andre miller.

the best draft picks this organization has made not including the number 1 patrick pick was gerald wilkins and rod strickland 15 frikin yeasr ago.. i know we had bad picks or we traded away most of our picks which was understandable in the 90s but the draft picking since 99 with fred weiss and on down has killed us. If you look at it we could have a formidable young CHEAP talented core.

You're dead on. Our picks have been horrible.

Look, it's always easy to play the "we could've had" game. Drafting is not a science. There always are some mid-to-late first round picks or 2nd round picks that turn out and make many GMs who picked earlier look stupid. Point is, no one gets it right all the time. You do the best you can with the imperfect knowledge you have when it's time to make the pick.

But by the same token, no one should get it WRONG all the time either, and we've got a pretty horrendous streak going. Doesn't look like this year's crop is going to change the trend.

There also an aspect of what you do with the players once you've picked them. Hate to give credit to our cross-river rivals, but would Twin be a significant contributor if the Knicks' had picked him. Would Scalabrine still be in the league? Byron made a conscious effort to play his rookies, and it's rewarded the Nets big time. He's got young guys who can give him solid minutes and have real value should the team decide to trade them.

bottom line take away H2 and thomas 2 non laydumb acquisitions and this team is a 15 win team
