i'm actually more interested in this more than the regular season (although i'm still a life long yankees fan, and want to see the mets succeed).

both games i saw yesterday were pretty darn good, and i never sit through baseball much anymore.

i'm watching d.r. vs. panama right now, and it seems pretty good right now. (i still keep wondering why the announcers keep calling the dominican republic "the dominican" instead of at least "d.r"...unless someone can tell me i'm off about this...i've just never heard anyone use that name)

too bad it seems that even baseball fans don't seem to be as interested in it (not one post on this forum full of baseball fans, no?).

i think having it during spring training is not good, and the fact that many major players are not on their country's teams is striking.

if mlb wants a real "world cup" you have to really encourage players to play.

have it during the winter, in hawaii, arizona, mexico, p.r., japan (okay it's not warm, but cool, and they have indoor stadiums), taiwan (not hot, but warm enough), for a week or two, right after the superbowl/pro-bowl or something.

no...i watched the US/canada yesterday. i was pumped up watching it. it had playoff like intensity.

what channel are they televising the games? the Asian bracket's being played in Tokyo right now so the games happen at like 4 in the morning.

this galarraga pitching for venezuela got some real bit to his pitches. alot of movement. and that dunce petunia misses a bunt and causes rollins to be thrown at out 2nd.

after the leadoff double, he stirkes out petunia and chipper. impressive. venezuela got a really good lineup - oswalt better bring his A game...

oswalt getting rocked in the 4th. venezuela up 3-2 now. venezuelans in the crowd are going nuts...

I'm watching too... didn't see this thread.

I had the same thoughts about Abreu.

I'm still not a big fan of this, I mean I have it on because it's baseball but the fact that pitchers are limited with pitches thrown and substitues like Jeter coming in for Rollins even though Rollins is having a great game. Too much exhibition feel to this thing.

Was watching until U.S. took the lead 10-4.

Abreu is definitely a steal at $5 million but I'm kind of glad he's not on the Yankees anymore, his D was horrendous and he gave up a ton of runs because of it.
