What do you think guys? Can we beat Cav's fans at their own game?
Austin Carr's fans are throwing the hammer down (and a few drinks) when their hero takes the air

CLEVELAND -- Austin Carr's retired number 34 Cavaliers jersey hangs in reverence at Quicken Loans Arena.

But to some younger fans who know him only as the team's television analyst, Carr's commentary is pure sport. A game within the game.

While LeBron & Co. are doing their thing on the court, Carr, on Fox Sports Ohio, does his behind the microphone, sprinkling the action with home-spun homerisms.

So James isn't LeBron, he's the "L-train!"

For a slam dunk, (fill in player here) "throws the hammer down!"

When an opponent's shot is swatted away, viewers can count on Carr's enthusiastic "Get that weak stuff outta here!"

On and on it goes -- to the point where Carr's trademark phrases are so anticipated that they've prompted the "Austin Carr Drinking Game."

Rules vary, but basically, players must swig with each Carr catch phrase, and take several sips when he combines them,
such as "the L-train throws the hammer down at the Q!" Poetry on the hardwood --- Austin Carr style

With the Cavs off to a franchise-best start and TV ratings to match, the Austin Carr Drinking Game has sports talkers and bloggers all abuzz. In fact, Carr first heard about the game in his car, listening to WKNR AM/850's Kenny Roda.

Full story (complete with video of this guy saying some of his trademarks): http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2009/02/austin_carrs_fans_are_throwing.html

A sampling of some of the rules:
Setting: Flexible. Anywhere from your couch to local watering hole. The only catch, obviously, must be able to hear A.C.'s calls.

Requirements: 1-? beers/wine/liquor (depending on Austin Carr's anticipated use of catch phrases and # of participants)

A.C.ism's:
"Throws... the hammer down"= 1 drink
“L-Train”= 1 drink
“Deep @ the Q”=1dr (or other arena)
“Young man”= 1drink
"Johnny on the Spot"=1 drink
"It's Wally's World..."=1 drink
"Leather sandwich"=2 drinks
"Now you see me...Now you don't"=2 drinks
"Got himself a bird" = 2 drinks
(there are tons more)

COMMERCIALS:
Farmersonly.com commercial = 1drink
Ganely Man =1 drink (actually saw him at a game)
Any Commercial with AC =1drink
Grant medical center commercial = 1drink

McLeod excitable catch phrases:

"Right down Euclid" = 1drink
"Three from 330"= 1drink
“The bottom” = 1 drink
“Shufflin their shoes” = 1 drink

Awkward AC phrase or AC mess ups and Aflac:

"Deep @ oracle center, err.. oracle arena.=3 drinks
Aggrivated AC=3 drinks
Any replay that contains an AC catch phrase = 4drinks

There are also rules for the pregame and postgame report

So what do you guys think? Can we come up with our own, (vastly superior) drinking game for Walt "The Living Legend" Cylde Frazier? We have until Wednesday at 7 to come up with version 1 and take it for a test spin!

Clyde's Rhymes (1 sip)
-Dancing and prancing
-Slicing and dicing
-Dishing and swishing
-Shaking and baking
-Posting and toasting
-Bounding and astounding
-Swooping and hooping
-spinning and winning
-wheeling and dealing
-styling and profiling

Clydeisms (2 sips)
-The precocious neophyte
-[Insert name] is starting to percolate
-The Knicks with the matador D
-All the Knicks with the knack right now
-Ring the bells, school is in session for [insert player's name]
-altruistic bounce pass

(the number of sips is up in the air - does he use these frequently enough that 1-2 sips is enough?)

I'm still waiting for someone to create a Clyde BINGO card.
-- the preceding post was brought to you by the letter K and the number 22.

It's fairly rare but my favorite WCFism is:

X [crowd or player] has egressed this mess.
