When D'Antoni unveiled his Formula 40, the Knicks were 21-31, which meant they'd have to go 19-11. Now they are 24-33, so they'll have to go 16-9.

D'Antoni said trades for Larry Hughes and Chris Wilcox, who both need to get into game shape, haven't helped the team in reaching that goal. He knows, however, that the moves were important for the long-term good of the team.

"I really didn't envision the two trades," he said. "I think it set us back a little, but we're getting better. We should have won a couple games that we blew, but we still have a good chance."

Isnt this what lead him out of Phoenix?

I think you are reading too much into his statement. I don't agree about the thought that "that the moves were important for the long-term good of the team" The Z-Bo and Crawford trades were about the long-term good. I like the Wilcox deal for the here and now but Hughes adds nothing for the future, present or past of this team. He is la basura.

plus he's taking away from DG's developemnt, but if he keeps playing the way he is he will find himself right back on the bench.

That's not good. Damn if MikeD leaves, we're SOL
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

40 wins talk is about what we need to reach playoffs.
And this is the goal set my team management short term.
Can it be reached or not is not the point, the point is - team will try hard to do the best.
People need goals to make progress, even if goals are not reached. Just corporate psychology...

A young player, who is on a minutes schedule because of injury, is being wronged by the coach who likes him? Come'on.

BRIGGS way too look into a statement and come out with something that had nothing to do with it.

Mike wants playoffs. Mike said 40 wins means playoffs. He also said he didn't expect the two trades and acknowledges it's been tough working the players in and it may have been a set back. That's it.

Yet you get he's throwing the GMs under the bus out of it? That's it, I'm convinced, FIRE WALSH, FIRE DANTONI, hire Mark Jackson, play Gallo 35 minutes a night.

The boggest partof the deal was clearing roster space. Attaching James to the trade opens up a roster spot for a FA, rook, etc.
