The New York Knicks and Stephon Marbury were nearing a buyout agreement Tuesday afternoon that would clear the way for Marbury to sign with the Boston Celtics, according to sources close to the situation.

I'd like to see him go to the Magic and win a chip.

I personally am hoping he signs with Boston and single-handedly ruins the team from the inside out.

It would be nice to see him win. No matter what I have no hard feelings. The guy came into camp ready to be a backup to Duhon. He should have been released during the summer.

Monday, Walsh said he'd prefer Marbury does not sign with a playoff-bound team. The Knicks could face the Celtics in the first round if Boston is the top seed and the Knicks are the eighth.

Walsh sounds like a fool for saying this.

Actually I recall Marbury saying that he wouldn't come off the bench in NY around preseason. I think later on during the season he said he'd come off the bench though.

Strange comment by Walsh. Was this in response to a reporter's question?

He should have made a generic "He's free to do what he wants now. I hope that he signs with a team where he can fit in and contribute over the next 25 games" type of statement.

He should have taken the high road, but instead sounded too concerned.
