In the screw 2010 mantra...

As teams are having financial problems and dumping salary for that summer how about this scenario:
trade Q for Peja
draft Jerome Jordan from Tulsa (good athletic 7 footer) and trade him with Hughes expiring for Bogut
Sign Odom for 5 years $37mm (or two for his bird rights)

Here are your 2009/2010 Knicks
SL
pg Duhon
sg Chandler
sf Peja
pf Lee
C Bogut
Bench: Nate, Harrington, Odom
Everyone plays about 30 minutes

fish, I like your premise but Peja just isn't on the court enough for me to want to go out and get him.

At this stage of his career how is Peja that much of an upgrade over Gallinari at the SF position?

Until we get a serious 2 guard, we're not getting to the next level. These are the top 20 in PER. Until one of these guys has NYK next to their name, I don't know where we get to be in the Magic, Hawks type range.

1 Dwyane Wade, MIA
2 Kobe Bryant, LAL
3 Brandon Roy, POR
4 Manu Ginobili, SAS
5 Leandro Barbosa, PHO
6 Vince Carter, NJN
7 Kevin Martin, SAC
8 Michael Redd, MIL
9 Andre Iguodala, PHI
10 Joe Johnson, ATL
11 Ray Allen, BOS 58
12 Ben Gordon, CHI 56
13 Tracy McGrady, HOU
14 Jason Richardson, PHO
15 Allen Iverson, DET
16 Richard Hamilton, DET
17 Delonte West, CLE
18 Ronnie Brewer, UTH
20 O.J. Mayo, MEM
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

That team wasn't worth posting the first time, with Wallace in place of Odom, much less deserving of it's own thread now.

The ego on you.

the only place that a screw 2010 line of thinking will get us is where we've been since Ewing left... been there, done that... time for a change of philosophy... thank God Donnie Walsh still buys into the 2010 plan.

It appears nobody read the title of the thread?

Peja still one of the best shooters in the league.

And what is the 2010 plan again? Is it let good players go for nothing hoping amare and lebron come here and if they don't we set our franchise back 5 years?

Why is that better than the boston plan or the detroit plan of build a great team? Last I checked the cavs didn't win a title last year, bos did. Detroit won one also and went to two finals.

no, the plan is to retain flexibility to make trades & signings in 2010, similar to what Boston did... i'm pretty sure you know what the plan is already Donnie's been pretty clear about his intentions from the very beginning... he's not gonna give up the plan to go after guys like Peja & Lamar Odom.

I have a strong feeling that Wade is going to be a Knick. Heat suck. Beasley is going to be a borderline all-star at best. 3 wants the Garden.

Boston didn't have or use cap space. They traded their pieces for two veterans. That's what I am saying to do, and do it without giving any of our current keepers away. You never answered the question. What happens if we add bogut and a shooter? And then you have a great team. Your whole franchise isn't wrapped in onw guy. This is all about being flexible. Cap space can be nice but it doesn't win games. I would love to have it but not giving up a budding allstar or two to get it so we can win 45 games with bosh and nash for the next 4 years

there's many ways to go about it but Donnie's plan is to retain cap flexibility for 2010... what's so hard to understand about it? every move he's made up til now has had 2010 in mind... do u really think he's gonna reverse his plan for guys like Bogut & Peja? i don't.

Well, if you want to go this route, why not package Duhon, Gallo, filler for Baron Davis?

pg Davis
sg Chandler
sf Peja
pf Lee
C Bogut

Wade's exact words: "who knows what the future holds but NY isnt for me."

Hey... I LOVE the idea of going after Lebron or Amare or whoever. I HATE the idea of trading down or letting good players who are home grown KNicks like Lee and Nate walk for the sake of cap space.

If DW can bring these guys back and dump JJ and Curry then great.
