Here's the most frustrating thing to me about this team over the past four years.

Not Isiah and his crazy gambling moves. Not the tiny lineups. Not the parade of legendary coaches who can't get it done.

I watch the teams who are good, who are in the position that we want to be in, and I watch our team and there's one glaring difference.

LeBron and Kobe come into the Garden and put up tons of points, so do other guards, but they're not just shooting the lights out.

They drive the ball and get to the line... I'll say that again... they drive the ball... and they get to the line.

Crawford had moves for days but only used them to get a clear shot from 20 feet.

Steph totally lost it after he played about 5 games for us.

Nate tries his heart out, but at the end of the day, he's 5'8".

Q has the vertical jump of an old woman with weights on her ankles.

Al loves the mid-range shot.

Chandler doesn't have the fire.

Then we announce the Hughes trade, I see some old Sixers highlights and I'm like... hmmm maybe, just maybe he'll fill that role. Maybe he'll forget his crazy shot and use the Knicks spread offense and drive to the basket and make a living off of the line, but no... Hughes is terrible so far. He's killing the dream and it should be so easy for him.

Those should be such easy points for us that we haven't been taking for so many years. Every time we play Kobe or LeBron, or J Jack for that matter there is a huge foul shot differential and we have a much harder time winning than we should.

If we ever have our prayers answered and LeBron comes here, that will be the biggest thing to change and will win us 15 more games just by itself.

For now... let's give Spree a call and see if his kids are still hungry.

Spree's game was very dependent on his athleticism, which he has probably lost now. I doubt he could be an effective player and that is not even considering the fact that Dolan hates him. It is not happening.

Little Jimmy will send Larry Brown a Christmas card before he brings Spree back.

Clearly I'm just using Spree to make a point, but damn it kills me sometimes. Wouldn't Craw have been an all-star if he would have just driven the ball every third shot? Steph could take anyone off the dribble, but just didn't feel like it.

For god's sake Hughes, just drive the ball, you're a huge guard. You'll never play with more space on the court. There's nobody in front of you. Just go to the friggin' hoop.

I can't stand losing games to Pierce, Mo Williams, Jack, Roy, all these guys, some of them not even that good. They get to the line, we don't and we lose games where you'd swear we outplayed the other team.

Drives me crazy.

Spree is what, 40?

Spree burned his bridge, completely, to James Dolan when he not only cursed him out, but talked trashed about the front office at that time.

Spree probably has no athleticism whatsoever. You thought he looked bad in Minnesota during his last year? Fast foward 5 years later. He probably has nothing but an erratic jump shot. We might as well just play Gallo more, or sign Houston.

I wouldn't put this past Spree: I betcha he gained a ton of weight.

OK, forget I said Spree, it was half joking anyway.

I think Walsh was trying to fill the driving 2Guard gap on our roster with Hughes, but seems like he didn't get the memo.

We have to fill that role to get to the next level. If we get Bosh and he plays like he has been this year, we're not going to be a different team.

If we can get DWade or LeBron and keep a core of what we have we'd be a killer team. Not because they're great players, because they would fill our slashing guard gap perfectly. You could put a lesser player in there like Maggette and they would improve our stock greatly.

Im sure Walsh will be able to obtain a legit and lethal SG after Hughes contract expires and he's no longer on the team.

The player you are talking about has no place in MikeD system.
Somebody who always goes to the basket, and gets fouled, or… created offensive foul, turn it over, get blocked, stripped... This kills the offense flow Mike wants to install.
Players who can help team win with this kind of plays are counted on fingers of one hand and they called stars.
Spree was doing this on team with no set team offense; so it was better that nothing and good enough because of defensive stops, Knicks were able to do, to compensate low efficiency of individual offense.

What because I hate that we've had pansy shooting guards for almost a decade?

See Bip, that's the right attitude you're displaying right now. When you have respect to the veteran posters, you too will be a good poster in 4 or 5 years from now.

it just doesn't get old

There should be a new category similar to the "alba posts" where you get a point for each post ripping Bip's post count.
