You guys seem to want to just talk about the same ****....meanwhile we have 2 new players and there hasn't been a thread to discuss the first impressions and if they are showing signs they can fit....

Boooooyah!!! I'm a genius!!!!

Well First off these guys are playing as advertised....alot of you won't give them credit until they drop 50pts on the Lakers in the NBA Finals...

Wilcox:
Beast!!! He's very active and his motor is sick. He gets off the ground just as fast as Lee. I can't wait to see the dude a week from now. He is definately gonna delete Jared from the memory. He's shown good hands too. He doesn't sweat and he runs up and down with no prob.

Hughes:
He looks like he a dude that hasn't played in a while....but he has that look in his eyes like he can't wait to get his legs underneath him and get his timing back. He's gonna be good. He already displays good court vision quick hands on defense...He's gonna be the starter before long.

Hughes is gonna be like Jamal & he's gonna anger a lotta posters around here w/his shot selection, but i happen to think he can help this team before it's all said & done... he plays solid defense on the perimeter as well... once he shakes the rust off he'll be fine, except the guys who hate him now will still hate him later so it really doesn't matter anyways.

Wilcox is a nice player to give us added depth in the frontcourt... from what i've seen in only 2 games he looks a little rusty & out of shape too, but not as much as Hughes... he'll help this team before it's all said & done too... still don't think this team will make the playoffs but if Nate continues to improve & these 2 new guys start to play better then who knows i guess.

I like the added depth these two give us. Wilcox is a good fit IMO. Much like Lee he only needs to show a mid range game to be fully effective, but even now he gives us that banger to fill in for Lee and keep our inside presence strong.

I think we'll play just above .500 the rest of the way and make the playoffs. We should get even deeper soon and as some teams will be wearing down. We'll be still going strong due to the added bench strength.

Love what Wilcox is doing. As the players and he gain a better understanding of each other, Wilcox will be beast for us. Great pick up.

Hughes sucks. The dude cannot shoot and it is not just rust; it is his shot selection. He insists of taking shots that he has only a 20% chance of hitting. He will bring added defense at the 2 position and allow MDA to play someone other than Q, but really how much better is Hughes going to get. He will have 2-3 monster games before the end of the year, but for the most part, he is going to be a 3-12 shooter UNLESS he learns to stop taking all those off balance shots and limits himself to the wide open shots he gets within the offense. If he does the latter, then I think he can be a positive for the team.

Check out my sig below.

I like the Wilcox acquistion and hate the Hughes one. He already lost me. That shot he took while falling back out of bounds was the most ridiculous shot I seen in awhile and I seen plenty with this team this year. That even shamed Harrington who actually gave up the ball to him. Hughes didn't make an effort to pass until the boo birds started to come down on him. Jamal and Nate that bad shots sometimes. They don't take ridiculous, 0% shots. IMO, there is a big difference.

The boo birds pretty much started when he got in the game. Pretty scary the kind of rap that Hughes has that the fans are already booing him en mass. I mean, Knick fans sat patiently through the last 8+ years of Layden & Isiah mediocrity without burning the Garden down.

when it is all said and done, wilcox will be the gem out of the acquisitions this year. he is a great athletic banger who will definately help lee in the block. almost a neccessary trade, really since i think lee was wearing down in the past couple of weeks. as far as hughes go, we know what we have. a streak shooter. he will have games, tho, that he will light a team up with 30+ points and those are the nights we adore him. but the next night he wil go 0 for. the bottom line is that we need a sg and he is one. there are other shooters on the team that will more than compensate when hughes have a bad game but his perimeter defense is something we need. duhon is a decent perimeter defender bu hughes is definately better in that regards.

they are both stop gaps and strictly cap space trades. neither are in the knicks longterm plans - dont waste breath talking about them - they'll be gone before you know it.

i think it's obvious that the hate for hughes is because he cost us the big game.

Anybody notice that Daniels was having a career night until MDA put Hughes on him? Their guards Daniels, Jack and Rush put a hurting on us. MDA figuring out how to shut one of those guys down (Hughes at 6'-5" covering the 6'-6" Daniels) was a difference maker. Then you add N8 not wanting to be outdone by Jack and you add another game to the W column.

You would think that a still rusty Hughes might want play with a little more intelligence until he gets his form back. At what point does he realize that he should limit his shots because he does not have his touch back yet?

Wilcox, on the other hand, has not tried to do too much- he has not tried to go outside of his game, and has therefore been a plus for the team.

Fucking terrible pickup on Hughes, right there with you, that shot fading out of bounds double clutching. Danny Ferry should have lost his job for signing him. I don't know what Walsh was thinking with this one. So far you have to give Donnie a C on his moves.

Wilcox was a solid trade, but don't really see the need of Larry. Would much rather see Mardy Collins or white chocalate out there backing up Duhon. Again if Mike is using Wilson at the two there was no need to take away Gallos minutes (who is terrible, Eric Gordon would have solved this problem and save 13 million).

Hughes better play great defense because his offense is disgraceful. When you can't shoot a high percentage with Lebron on your team you are garbage

I am very impressed with Wilcox. He is a jumping jack out there and is very active. He likes to bang and seems like a willing defender. The only thing I was a little dissappointed on was that he is not 6'10". The dude looks like he is the same height as DLee. No matter as long as he keeps up the active play.

Hughes is as advertised. Good handle, plays the passing lane well, long guard, nice stroke, HORRIBLE SHOT SELECTION. If he can contain himself from taking off balanced shots then he should be ok. If he mouths off and pulls his diva act here, then he will be eaten alive by Gotham.

I like the Wilcox pickup. But Hughes sets the franchise rebuilding back by a year. This guy has no business being out on the court not when Gallinari needs his minutes. The year is about rebuilding and player development, the presence of Hughes puts the Knicks in regression mode rather than progression mode. I find it sad that Walsh and D'Antoni are basically pulling an Isiah like move. Instead of seeing what has put them in the position to talk about playoffs. This my friends is a sad situation, the Knicks mangement seem to have lost sight of the plan.

For those who tell me that Gallo is a 3 and Hughes is a guard. Last night Hughes played the three when Nate, and Duhon were out there. Had Q not been out Gallo would have gotten another DNP.

I think the godfathers thinking is two fold with Hughes.

1. Might be able to give us better guard option than Roberson.
2. Huge expiring contract next year that can be used as an asset or just simply expire.

I think D'Antoni will make the correct decision here. If Hughes does not work out then I can see D'Antoni benching or purging him entirely from the team.

Hughes is impressively awful. The comparisons to Crawford are way off. He couldn't hold Crawford's jock.

You know those moments when you're watching a movie like Meet the Parents and something terribly awkward is about to happen and you have to turn away from the TV.

I feel like that when Hughes comes in, the Knicks bring the ball up and Hughes is standing there with his hands out asking for the ball. I have to turn away. I wait for the clang and the boos and then turn back to the screen.

Francis was terrible in a similar way, but this takes it to a new level. It is shocking that players like Francis and Hughes made it to the league and especially that they played at the highest level with flat shots like theirs.

Really incredible. He'll be bought out next year if the Knicks are merciful.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I like both pickups Wilcox is terrible from the line but very good energy guy. Hughes will get better, booing him in his second game is in bad taste. What free agents is going to want to play for these fans???

and by the way
i think it's obvious that the hate for Hughes is because he cost us the big game.
