After deplaning at LaGuardia last night, Steve Adamek pointed to a large figure walking the opposite direction through the security gate. It was Eddy Curry, headed to a 9:30 p.m. flight to Chicago. Why? That's what we were wondering. An arrest was made in the double-murder of Curry's ex-girlfriend and baby daughter in Chicago, so perhas he was returning to handle that business.

UPDATED 11:01 a.m. - Curry was excused from the morning shoot-around for "personal reasons," the Knicks said. He is expected back this afternoon. The Knicks wouldn't say more than that.

But one thing we can say is it seems clear Curry's plan to be back on the court after the all-star break didn't mean right after the break. Curry has only joined the team in practice for walk-through stuff. But for some reason he did make the trip to Toronto, even though there was no shoot-around and no real time to get in a workout of his own with the staff, considering the noon start.

And if you ask anyone on the Knicks staff if Curry was at the MSG Training Center getting treatment and conditioning work in over the all-star break, you generally get an uneasy smile and silence.

Curry's situation is really complicated right now. His personal situation must be separated from his lack of production since he's been here. I dont have it in my heart to bash the man.

And that's just the thing. He's simply not the teddy bear the media told us he was. This is not one isolated incident that happened to a good guy. He's been involved in a lot of shady crap over the years it would seem and it would appear he applies himself about as well in real life as he does on the court.

Do I like seeing him go through this personal life turmoil? Of course not. However, do I care on a personal level? As if he's a friend or family member? No, I do not, for it's not isolated it's part of a long list of problems he's got.

Couldn't be more tired of this guy regardless of the situation.

I said two weeks ago just cut the dude. We can probably get him to give us a 10-15% discount if we give him all his money now. With what we save in luxury tax and added cap room in 2010, it is worth it. We are not going to be able to trade him because Curry is not going to be able to recover physically and mentally from the stuff he is going through for at least 2 years. The dude is weak. Cut him and let him move on with his life.

So you have to care for somebody on a personal level in order to feel compassion for a man whose infant daughter was murdered? Good guy are you.

And dont try to rationalize your feelings. I dont remember the media "making him out to be a teddy bear"...The press has been brutal about his play and for good reason. All thats irrelevant anyway, because his daughter and girl being murdered have nothing to do with basketball.

And I'm not going to put this on him until clear evidence emerges that he was connected.

What's the quote? Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me?

Yeah, Curry needs to learn it.

He has put himself in multiple terrible positions off the court. Cheats on his wife having children with other women, can't keep track of millions of dollars leading to unpaid bills, is an epic disaster at his profession. There's a time when it's simply that person's fault. There's sharks out there so you know what? Don't go swimming.

I'm not going to sit here and shed a tear for every damn celeb or athlete that gets themselves into trouble. Sorry....I'm not obligated to do so.

What do I want from Curry? Get his FAT FUCKING ASS INTO SHAPE, Look like a halfway decent NBA player, so we can TRADE HIM.

That's it. Know what? If he went home to Chicago never to return and curled himself up in a ball? That'd be fine too. Good riddance. Bum.

I suggest to Eddy just pack up and leave Chicago. Start a fresh life else where.

WOW. SMH. Perhaps one day you will rethink that post of yours. Hopefully it will come out of a maturing of thought and not for other reasons....

Meaning, I hope --- god willing, that a major tragedy, like having a immediate family member murdered, doesnt befall you in your lifetime. And I doubly hope that somebody doesnt use the minor mistakes you've made in your lifetime as justification for said tragedy.

Edit: referring to Cosmic's last post.

The thing I've learned the most about 'veteran' NBA players is that they are what they are. I keep expecting this one to turn it around or that one to take advantage of an opportunity and it just doesn't happen. They is what they is.

I always hated Curry. He's so selfish for not giving his all to this organization and its fans.

+1. Talking basketball production is one thing. Talking about family personnal issues is another. Some people need to learn the difference.

Why should I care about his personal life? When it's one incident that happens to a nice guy it's a shame. When it's multiple incidents that happens to a clown that can't help himself? I stop caring. Simple as that.

Don't make it sound like I'm happy Eddy's life is a disaster or wish it upon him.

Yup.....The sooner you accept that, the saner you will be. Every now and then there is a turnaround story but they are so few and far between that it's not wise to hold your breath waiting for it.
I just hope that people will like me

You feel for the man personally. Terrible what has happened to him.

However, the man is not accountable for anything. His is big and that is his talent, I feel no remorse for a guy making 10 million dollars to over eat and let his teammates down. The guy gives no effort. This is why contracts need to be shorter. Players that cash in and retire and we have had a lot of them. They get the cash and don't care. He is the most out of shape player in basketball and we gave up two lottery selections for him.

The only time he was ever in shape was his over use of supplements in chicago that led to his heart problems right before he become a free agent, do I blame him for wanting to get paid, of course not. But, red flag signings have to be averted.
