Arrest made in Curry ex, baby deaths

CHICAGO -- Police said Saturday they had arrested a suspect in the slayings of the former girlfriend of New York Knicks' player Eddy Curry and their infant daughter.

Police spokeswoman Laura Kubiak confirmed Saturday that one person was in custody. She said charges were pending.

Kubiak said police believe the person under arrest killed Nova Henry, 24, and her 9-month-old daughter, Ava, who were found dead of multiple gunshot wounds in their apartment on Jan. 24. Curry was the biological father of Ava, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Henry was also the mother of the ex-Chicago Bull's 3-year-old son. The boy was found unharmed at the scene.

Knicks spokesman Jonathan Supranowitz said by e-mail to The Associated Press that Curry had no comment.

Kubiak said she could not confirm details of the arrest.

The Chicago Tribune reported Saturday that Henry's mother, Yolan Henry, said a detective informed her after midnight that a Chicago man, a more recent boyfriend of her daughter's, was in custody.

"I feel relieved that I don't have to walk outside and wonder if he going to hurt my grandson," Yolan Henry told the newspaper.

There was no immediate response Saturday to a call from The Associated Press seeking comment from a Yolan Henry in Chicago.

Is it possible that Curry could be implicated? I talked to someone close to the team and they didn't rule that out.

Terrible thing to say, but you have to wonder considering the circumstances.

that was my initial feeling after hearing about his financial troubles & all the child support he was slated to pay... u never know in these cases... it's a tragic event in Eddy's life but the world is a messed up place nowadays afterall.

Close call between ARod and Curry for who's in the most effed up situation these days.

I'm having a hard time seeing Curry finishing out his contract here.

Does your source feel that there's any reason to believe that this could be the case - or is it just speculation?

Before this story came out it wasn't known that it was Curry's kid. He was begging the Knicks to bail him out of financial trouble just prior to this.

I don't want to get into it too much, but the way they told it to me implied that direction and I asked if that could be the case and they didn't discount it.

I don't know jack really. I know someone who knows someone and they made it sound bad.

On the surface it sounds shady even without any inside info.

Do you guys think Jennifer Hudson was part of a conspriacy to kill her mother and nephew? You guys think Q was part of his brother's death? The same with Isiah? People it is Chicago. I'm not sure how many of you have any knowledge of the city but it is dangerous place to live and visit.

Curry was paying child support for the slain child and paternity had been determined. The chief suspect was her former boyfriend and I believe she had an order of protection against him. Curry is immature and has motivational issues but I think he has moral character. I don't think he would ever be involved in anything like this.

I would not assume that Curry was directly involved in this, like putting a hit on his mistress or kids.

However, Curry is thought to be in a bad financial situation, which, theoretically, could include owing money to some pretty bad people.

We already know from the newspapers he's got a clothing store and his limo driver after him for money; I think it's fair to assume the one's that make it to the press are just the tip of the iceburg.

the difference is there's no motivating factor in any of those cases for them to be involved, at least none that was publicized... i didn't see anyone accuse Curry of being involved here, just an eyebrow raiser, that's all... damn, y'all need to stop taking the extreme of every post that's written here & just take words at face value.

CHances are i think the killer was pissed to find out that Curry was the father. My 2 cents
