no comments on what he said? i thought he shed some pretty nice light on all the talks that went down at the deadline, including the situation w/Marbs, Lee & Nate.

ingrateful bastidges.

I don't commiserate with Crawford lovers.

They showed the clip of him forgetting Wilcox yesterday. I couldn't stop laughing. "And the other guy...who'd I trade for?" (report: Wilcox) "Oh yeah Wilcox he's a strong player..."

Just...LOL. Go get 'em Donnie!

Between the really low volume level and Walsh sucking on candy, I really couldn't understand half of what he said.

DW is a breath of fresh air and one I have been asking for since Layden was here. All I have wanted since Ewing retired was for the Knicks to decide on a style of play and build a team. Finally we have a GM that is following a plan.

1)Hire a coach with a history of winning (we have done that part..several times)
2)Give him the players he is comfortable coaching that fit into his system.
3)Let him do his job

Best part is the team has responded with effort on the court and some quality wins

Summary please for those of us at work.
hey said nothing interesting which is what makes it so great.

He was very polite and felt bad about letting guys go and thanked them for their work
He said these two guys fit into what Mike likes to do on the court (he made reference to Mike's system several times)
He said Wilcox is a body type they dont have much of and will help them up front
He said Hughes wasnt going to play when KH came back and would have good chances here
He said he thought they were a better team and more competitive but still in good shape for free agents in 2010
He said he never considered Shaq
He said not a lot of calls on Lee because GMs knew he Lee wasnt available
He said the Nate/JJ Sac rumor was total bogus
He said very few Nate offers because GMs knew Knicks want to keep and resign him
He said Bip's post count is very low

See Martin/Andrew, word has spread about this miscarriage of justice. It's just a matter of time before Donnie comes here and shuts this place down.
I just hope that people will like me

Summary please for those of us at work.

basically he touched on the following points:

- he said the trades were a team effort between himself, Glen Grunwald & John Gabriel
- he said he wants to be competitive but doesn't wanna make any deals to interfere w/the 2010 plan
- he said he was willing to make exceptions to the 2010 plan but only for a select few players & he never expected those players to become available
- he thinks Wilcox & Hughes are players that will fit into this system & MDA was on board w/their acquisition
- he said there was no truth at all to the Nate & Fishlips to SAC rumors at all & doesn't know where they came from
- he said getting Wilcox allowed them to make the Hughes trade (i assume because of the depth issues in the frontcourt)
- he said there was declining interest in Lee after he made it known that he wasn't looking to deal him
- he said he didn't get into any real discussions about trading Nate w/anyone
- he said teams aren't looking to trade for Marbs' expiring since they assume he'll be cut by the Knicks anyways (didn't say if Marbs was gonna get cut tho, just that teams were assuming as much) so there weren't that many teams calling up looking to get him, there were some but not alot (i'm assuming the some were only offering crap w/longterm contracts) - (isles, there's ur answer)
- he thinks Wilcox can play C or backup F to David Lee, it's up to MDA to determine his role
- he said they're gonna look at the waiver wire & the NBDL tomorrow to see who else they can add to the open roster spots
- said Chicago told Hughes he would not play after Hinrich came back & he wanted to go elsewhere
- he said he noticed alotta teams wanted to dump salary
- he's happy w/the trades he made because they still fit w/the 2010 plan & is satisfied w/where the team is until they get into the FA market

Donnie is going to have some trouble speaking unfortunately. You forget they cut out part of his tongue because he had cancer so he's always going to be a bit awkward and hard to understand.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

i love the fact that he's got a plan & is sticking to it... everyone here who keeps saying 2010 is a pipedream, it's good to know our GM doesn't buy into that stuff & from the looks of all the teams freeing up cap space that year it seems like a lotta other GM's aren't either.

Walsh was also on ESPN Radio. Someone typed it up. Before I post that, yesterday Walsh didn't even know who he traded for. Today he called him "Wilkins" in the interview. LMFAO.

Sorry bout the spelling and Grammar issues....

DONNIE: wanted to make the team better in the confines of 2010 and whe the NO trade broke apart he traded for "wilkins" lol!

donnie" the bulls got the number one pick and have too many guards, so the older guard in larry didnt fit in their plans, and they told him when hinrich came back he would play, so they made the deal, and he thinks the trade was even

doniie: he doesnt know how mike will use him, but when they lost mobly, they used nate a lot, which is bad defensively but good offensively, he was looking for guards to shore up that are bc they were lacking there

doniie: They just got in and took physicals, and their players need to pass, so they arent playing yet

donnie: TT was a hard trigger to pull bc he was playing well and used as a center, so they wouldnt have made thge deal if they didnt get "wilkins" lololol

Mike: said wilcox 4 times

donnie: bottom line, they needed a big guy to help david and to sub for david, and he is a great prospect, and had some good years, and got caught in a change of management and ownership, and the young players were played more, and they have three young centers, so it wasnt ideal for him, so they traded him, and sem presti likes Malik and he is a great influence on young players

donnie" on deals not made: 1) lee: there was interest, but the numbers of his contract dont equal the value that u would get back, so its more complicated, so they never thought a deal they would take never came along, so they told ppl we arent trading him for a bench player, and ppl stopped calling them about it

donnie: is david lee more then u thought he would be? don: yes, im not a big stat guy, and i couldnt tell what kind of player he was, he told his agent he needed to see how he played, and he realized he can run and rebound, and is clever and is big and can make plays with both hands, he isnt as physical, so they need to get someone who can cover that up, like when he traded for rik smits in indiana)?)

donnie: lots of ppl want lee that think they are championship contenders

donnie: will someone sign him then u wont match? he will see u just dont know

donnie: on nate: He is unusual, i havent seen this since i have been in the league. he can break a game open and win it for u. thats great. the judgment is not bout his game (i like i) and u have to take good witht the bad, wht makes players good can also make them bad, its about who hd plays with, aka a bigger guard with him, so chris and him together is to small guys so maybe hughs will be better ge will see if that works so they can switch when guarding

also: i the dunk contest was a nice event and he is glad they won it etc

donnie: curry: i would say we want to get curry to play bc if he plays in mikes system and he can do it he would be the most unique player inthe league bc he is so big and run up and down like he did in chicago. he knows if he can he would be hard to deal with

also: can he stay and sign two guys?
donnie: he doesnt think any situation is static, and its something that u must work at every day and get to the point u want to get to, and we are almos there, he knows everyone is trying to guess at numbers and he said trading eddy curry might not be the best idea, bc they might try and look for another eddy curry tytpe, so he wants to see how he plays first on the court

donie: on cap: he doesnt know who will have money then, so teams are dumping salary, due to teams not drawing, and want free agents this summer and some for 2010, for the knicks the ability to get under the cap is important, he didnt even know at that time who was available, he just know they can get good bball players if they get under the cap

donnie: on this sytem of getting under the cap and messing the two yrs till 2010:

he thinks there has never been a year even b4 the cap and luxury tax, he says there was no free agency and u need to build thru the draft, he doesnt know how to get players to come to ur team when ur over that number, and u can only take one or two players in draft a year then u need to develop them and that take s a long time.

there are alot of different ways to go depending on their situations, and always doing whats best for ur franchise, sometimes the fastest way is to get under the cap

donnie: if there was no cap: yes he maybe maybe not would be making diff descions

donnie: on steph: negotiating still with him. still using Bialgus,

on steph going to win a championship: donnie says they are not looking to prevent him from going to a contender against the knicks, but he would rather he didnt
