We're estimating now that if the economy effects the cap, it will come in around $54,000,000. Here is a list of a full roster that would be made mostly of minimum level exceptions per the cap rules (not an expert, correct me if I'm wrong).

Problem is, and what I've been chirping about the last couple of days is that this roster equals over $57 million, meaning that we can't really sign the two Max players, and you wouldn't think that LeBron and Bosh would come to this roster even if they could.

Cap Experts, Walsh lovers... help me out. Talk me off of the ledge. We need to find $3.5 million and a way to convince LeBron and Bosh that this isn't a crazy idea.

$13,758,000 - LeBron
$13,758,000 - Bosh
$2,500,000(est) - 2009 pick
$473,604 - 2010 off the street rookie
$473,604 - 2010 off the street rookie
$473,604 - 2010 off the street rookie
$473,604 - 2010 off the street rookie
$473,604 - 2010 off the street rookie
$473,604 - 2010 off the street rookie
$473,604 - 2010 off the street rookie
$473,604 - 2010 off the street rookie
$2,130,481 - Wilson Chandler
$3,304,560 - The Rooster
$6,883,400 - Jeffries
$11,276,863 - Curry
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Why are you under the assumption that Jeffries will be here in 2010?

He's under contract and I think we just lost our opportunity to trade him.

Only thing we could possibly do is trade the rights to Nate or Lee with Jeffries at the 2009 draft and bring back a guy that expires next year.

Past that, you're talking about trading Chandler, or the 2009 pick to get him out of here, which... I mean you might as well pack it in and close up the franchise for a few years if that's the case.

If JJ can be traded this year, JJ2 can be traded next year.

C'mon man, we've got a year and a half to trade Jeffries or Curry. This was the same tenor with Zach Randolph. "Oh we can never move him, we've got to trade him now", Walsh f'd up, was the response to every mediocre proposal that came our way last summer and early into the season. He was eventually dealt.

If somebody is willing to trade for Jeffries now, then somebody will be willing to grab him in the future. Bet. Just have to wait for the right deal to come along and not panic.

Go smoke a blunt and calm down, chief.

Look, I'm a huge fan, I've been positive all the last few years. I'm just racking my brain trying to visualize how we're going to make 2010 work somehow.

Maybe Stern does us a favor and puts the cap at 58 million and gives the 2 Max player plan a chance of happening.

Maybe we trade an effective expiring deal (Al?) with Jeffries prior to the 2009 season for a terrible, malcontent expiring deal?

Maybe we do a sign and trade and package Lee or Nate with Jeffries at the draft for expiring deals.

Boy, we're really threading the needle at this point though and it would have been much easier to get it done today based on the resources that we had.

I talked about the 5 expiring contracts but Hahn did a much better job in the blog he just posted. The Knicks have alot of opportunities to make moves before 2010.

I read the Hahn blog, but he's comparing us to Boston prior to the KG trade. Boston had Al Jefferson. Its not like they only gave up expiring junk.

If Walsh can do it... great. I just don't see why we wouldn't have used our assets today when it seems like a trade would have been much easier to manufacture.

Trade the 2009 picked player and cash considerations for a future #1 and we're all set. Sounds perfect.

If the Knicks plan to bring in LeBron, who plays SF, why would we need Chandler? If you can trade Nate and Jeffries for cap space, you can certainly trade Chandler. Or a resigned Nate, and Nate will hopefully get better.

Maybe Curry won't take his player option because he's such a wreck and Walsh knows that?

It's either gonna be 2 max contract FAs OR 1 max contract FA + Lee and/or Nate

Depends on Chandler's development. Lebron and Chandler might be interchangeable 2/3 players

Why LeBron and Bosh will come to play to this D-league team?
They will un-doubtfully choose some NBA team, and not the worst one.
Or sorry... you are talking about fantasy bbal league... OK . It makes sense then.

And what an idiot one should be to put half of team salary into 2 players.
The chances of failure are so big that it’s not even funny.
Or league will lower the max contract or it will be no 2-max player teams in NBA

I said in another thread, I like Chandler overall as a 2...but he needs to work this summer to get that .304 3 PT%. up to be considered starting quality, imo.
