Wilcox says look at me.

Wilcox wants to beat your ass.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Im hoping he plays decent defence and blocks some shots. Havent really watched him since his maryland and early seattle days though. The bad news is that for his career he averages .4 blocks.

Curry even has him beat as far as blocks per game!

Im not sure, we'll have to wait and see how good/bad wilcox really is but im not falling for the isiah ploy that says you should be happy you traded away fat useless players for young athletic players.

Yeah, if Wilcox was in year 2 of a 6 year deal, I could see your apprehension --- but we just got him for Malik Rose and his contract ends this year, if we dont like him. The trade is failure-proof.

We can't be mad at the idea of adding Wilcox who still has some upside. He's not a bad player at all. He's not the shotblocker we need, but he's stronger than Lee and could help take the pressure off of Lee at Center. We added an athletic post player that can finish strong just like Lee, so i'm happy about that. He's got more of a post game than Lee, so I think he'll be a good fit.

I wanted the Knicks to draft Wilcox way back when. I was a big fan of his. Now he hasn't been an amare...or been consistant enough to be anything....but he is a proven 13pt scorer in this league. He is an awesome finisher. He will bang...and every once in a while he will bust out with an incredible game.

One word.....uptempo.

Wilcox needs to air it out and finish. Jared's minutes should be reduced....that's a blessing. Knicks don't need a major star...they need a real body inside that can actually play. All those open layups Fishlips misses are baskets. Wilcox can hit the mid range too.....

I love the idea of having him. I have been out and about today so I haven't really sat down to check everything....but yo....Knicks got better. We get to see what he can do and he still has breakout potential, like al harrington. Wilcox problem has always been inuries....

Go Knicks!!!

We got him because of the failed Chandler deal fell thru, and it is not good to return a player you just traded and bring him back. It sucks for Malik only because he gotta go live in a hotel until the end of the season..

We did the thunder a favor, and got a serviceable player for the rest of the season that can go 10-20 min a game.

With TT gone, he takes his slot.

(LOL - How can a thread be "official" when it is months late?)

EnySpree - exactly what you said

Wilcox can run and will run with D'Antoni smiling on the sidelines. The critical relationship is the bond between coach and player. If D'Antoni can get into Wilcox's head, and convince him that he wants to remake his game in the image of Amare, guess how quickly Wilcox is lacing his kicks and sprinting to the ball racks?

There is a reason that players love playing for D'Antoni.

How does Wilcox react to playing with freedom, and without fear of mistakes, so long as he busts his azz on both ends?

Make no mistake about it, Wilcox may be raw but the young man WILL bust his azz. (btw, raw is good)

The first time Chris Wilcox dunks on the break, listen carefully for the reaction in The Garden.

Wilcox is in his contract year. With increased minutes this guy is going to ball and will be a huge improvement over JJ2. MDA got a nice piece, I can't wait to see him go up against Perkins and Big Baby. We finally got some one who wants to dominate in the paint. Let's see what he can do. Give him a few games to acclimate and then turn him loose Bruce

Chris Wilcox will be playing for a new contract, somewhere else. He isn't a part of the team's future at all. He's a playoff push acquisition and the Knicks gave up nothing. They are getting a temp rotation player for an end-of-the-bench guy. I don't understand why this isn't considered a "win" by everyone

I haven't followed Wilcox after the draft but looking at his highlight film, he almost has the same hands as DLee and can catch in traffic. He catches everything thrown to him. He will blossom, "stats inflated", in this system.

There have been many many many times as a Clipper that I wished the Knicks had that guy.

It doesn't have to be somewhere else. I don't think he'll command a lot of money. Maybe $3 mil per year (4 year, $12 mil). The way to have cap space is to have a roster with reasonably paid players who can easily be moved; you don't need to aim to have $0 committed in your target year. At a reasonable salary, he could also be an attractive part of any sign and trade in 2010.

But you just explained why its a "win".

Add to the fact the knicks got rid of that extra small fwd. Tim Thomas played well for the knicks but al harrington, wilson and gallo can cover what he did.

Also add the fact David Lee got some help. I've seen games where Wilcox had like 4/5 in like 20 mins....then I also saw the mofo get damn near 20/20 in 30 mins.

As I stated, wilcox has always been hurt. He was hurt when the Knicks played the Thunder this year. It was my sons first game and my pops was there too. I was tellin my pops at the game that wilcox would be a beast on the Knicks. He spent pre-game going through a simulated game with the coaches. Catching and dunking with ease. One step and he is up.

I'm excited....I hope the dude can show enough to get a little piece of a contract even if its not for the Knicks. He would have to have a great few months for that to happen with the Knicks.
