Isn't he, though? He just waits patiently for the blood to be in the water and THEN he strikes and strikes hard.

Gotta love the passive-agressiveness. It's refreshing.

Donnie has traded what 5 or 6 guys in under a year. Why do people think he's been in a nap? Should he be making deals every day?

PS: Martin I have one thing to say..........
I just hope that people will like me

If I would have told you at the beginning of the year that Snacks, Jamal Crawford, Roberson, Collins, and Zach Randolph would all be gone by the trade deadline, in addition the players received back would not have contracts that extend beyond 2010, what would you have said?

Eh, I wouldn't go nuts over today's moves.

We needed a 2G and got Hughes, but, he really does stink, just you wait. However quite possibly more important, is it was a 3-1 deal, and opened up some roster spots. Plus we were all tired of Jerome James as well.

Malik for Wilcox, if it's been approved, could prove good for us. Yet, again, he's an underachiever, he's not in great shape, he's been phased out by previous teams, so let's see where this goes as well.

The Jeffries/Nate for KThomas deal was one that's tough to think about. Nate is pretty good but we have to pay Lee and Nate now and might not find another taker for Jeffries. That could be a potential problem down the road. Maybe down the road we say "DAMMIT, should have done that deal." and maybe down the road something else goes down that makes it look like a good pass on a trade.

The one trade he did do good ignoring was taking Miller/Salmons. That...would have sucked. We'd save nothing doing that so I don't see what the point of that one would have been.

Overall a decent trade deadline. Tried to address some needs, took on two questionable players that could potentially help us - but if not - we didn't hurt ourselves either. The key will be whether or not Hughes can play any time soon (out of shape due to sitting) and if he's still willing to be a jackass (just heave shots, ignore offensive sets, go 1-9, 1-8, 3-17 from the field, ETC which he does).

So it's one big wait and see for us. At the very worst it will prove lateral. So I don't have any issue with the deals made today. I agree with the one deal not made (miller/salmons) and I question the other one a little (jeffries/nate)

We were busy.

SAS likes what we did thinks we did good moves and they will help us.

We'll see....at least we're giving it a chance instead of just riding it out with Malik and Jerome on the bench and TT firing away (SAS mentioned it frees up time for Harrington/Chandler, etc).

Walsh also has 5 expiring contracts going into next season as it appears he plans to keep Mobley's as a trade chip. He has set himself so that he can continue to move Isiah's mistakes.

Who are the 5?

Al, Q, Hughes, -- who else? You counting Lee and Nate?

Yeah, we saw the wonders of what Walsh can do with them expiring deals... I mean, if Mobley can get us even one tenth of what we got for Marbury I'd be ecstatic.

If Donnie can find a way to move Curry and Jefferies it will be a miracle.

Can you think of 2 players we could pay about $ 6 M and $11 M a year to that would help us rebuild and attract potential free agents?

Maybe a scrappy guy who rebounds and has a decent and improving offensive game that would be good for the locker room.

A scoring punch off the bench would be nice too..someone that can create his own shot in the 2nd unit and do a little bit of everything..

How sad that the man who brought Nate and DLee to NY is the same guy responsible for screwing up the cap so badly we can't afford to keep them.
Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Mikki Moore doesn't address any of those needs except for "scrappy" - nevertheless it is expected Sacramento will release him soon:
I'm also told that Sacramento will be releasing Mikki Moore after the Kings were unable to include him in any trades before the deadline. Given the leaguewide need for big men, there figures to be a fair bit of interest in Moore once he clears waivers. Expectation is high that he will wind up in Boston, reports ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher.

Mikki Moore is a decent shotblocker and has an ok J. That'd be a decent pickup

A real shark would have taken advantage of all of these teams looking for financial relief and done something to further their plan for 2010 and beyond.

Its nice that the team could be marginally better in 09 but it's really frustrating that nothing was done beyond that. And its not like he didn't have opportunities.

Its another opportunity lost. What's the plan now? Are they going to keep Lee and/or Nate? Are they going to try for 1 or 2 top free agents? They need to commit one way or the other. Or maybe Walsh has and he's going to build with the current team and a single free agent.

I love half assed plans.

I remember he had a great playoff run with the Nets in 2007. Hustled all over the place and was a big part of the heart and soul of that team. Under coach D perhaps he could bump his numbers up a bit and just average a double double - otherwise I think at his best he's around 8 and 6 in 30 minutes.

He's right dude. We missed a huge opportunity and just made some junk moves today.

Had to come out of today either having loaded up on picks, shipping out Curry or Jeffries to get back on 2010 track, or swiping a star and ditching the 2010 plan.

We did none of that. We moved sideways. 2010 is still in huge jeopardy as far as fielding a contending team with two Max players.

Very disappointed.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

And where were all these draft picks and takers for Jeffries and Curry coming from, BTW?

Some of ya'll are never satisfied.
