Carter
Carter

Chad Ford: Spies in New Jersey say it looks like Vince Carter will finish the season as a Net. With just 45 minutes to go before the trade deadline, trade talks have stalled with Carter. It's not impossible that things heat up right toward the end. It's happened before. But right now the odds are strongly in favor of Carter remaining in New Jersey unless their owner, Bruce Ratner, comes back to management and tells them to dump him at any cost.

Could the Knicks make three deals today? Sources say the Kings have offered Kenny Thomas for Nate Robinson and Jared Jeffries. If the Knicks could move Jeffries, it would clear another $6.8 million in the summer of 2010. The Knicks would have to give up the talented Robinson and eat Thomas' $8.7 million salary next year ... but it's probably worth it to the Knicks. Especially now that they've shored up their offense with the Larry Hughes and Chris Wilcox deals.

I want a pick back if we do this.

I'd need at least Spencer Hawes or Jason Thompson back

Or one of them. Hawes would be nice.

For this one I would rather give up Lee since we are already thin at guard

TMS will be doing backflips I presume, but dumping Jeffries deal is a pretty steep price for Nate Robinson. Allanfan is right, can a brotha get a pick or Hawes or something. Damn.

I would pass on this deal unless the Kings add a 1st round draft pick. Nate is simply too good to give him away and if we are able to trade Curry (I know big if) we would not necessarily need to get rid of Nate. Bottomline is that Nate is tradeable, so we don't have to jump at the first deal that is available.

agreed. i'd love to deal jeffries, but they have to get more back if they're going to include nate.

^Good. I want either a young player or a nice pick, if we give up Nate.

I don't know... I'd miss Nate and know the Knicks give up more talent, but I'd pull the trigger--but first I'd see if they'd take Curry instead of Jeffries

UPDATE (2:36 p.m. ET): Just got word that the Knicks turned down the Kings again. Sounds like they're not as motivated to move Jared Jeffries as so many of us thought.

.....
Nate is probably playing a little to well to do such a trade but Jeffries is crippling us as well and having to KEEP Jeffries AND PAY Nate? Double whammy. If Sac offered back a protected pick I think you consider it then.

I'll do this if we get this years or next years pick from Sac also.

Nate and Curry for Kenny Thomas and Hawes or 1st RD pick.

or

Nate and JJSkinny for KT, Hawes and 1st RD pick.

We all want Jeffries moved, so its tempting, but just handing Nate over isnt justifiable.
