Rockets guard Tracy McGrady could miss the remainder of the season, according to sources close to Local 2 sports. An MRI revealed missing cartilage in his left knee, which may require microfracture surgery to repair.

The possibility remains, however, that McGrady will try to finish the season. Dr. James Andrews, generally regarded as the premier orthopaedic surgeon in the country for this type of injury, will review the MRI before a final decision is made. Andrews advised those close to McGrady, that a microfracture surgery should only be used in a career saving situation.

McGrady and the Rockets will discuss options in a meeting at Toyota Center prior to tonight's game against Sacramento. At this point, the Rockets have no comment on the situation.

geez man...he's done basically. the dude is always hurt and he doesn't care about winning anything cuz how many times has he let his teamates down with baby injuries and stuff. if i was Houston I would wash my hands of him. they shoulda traded him already....Yao supposedly requested the team move him a while back....I think they should basically forget he is even on the team and cut the loss. He never fit well with Yao anyway....boooo. You can't even say you hope he gets better cuz the mofo is rich and he doesnt care about winning.

We should extend his contract.

If Arenas can do it, why not him?

its a shame. i like t-mac, one of my top ten favorite players now. man, if that houston team was fully healthy, you could put them in the top three in the western conference. they probably will look to rebuild rather than retool now. strange that the blockbuster deal in 2004 didn't really help anyone ( francis/ mcgrady) though you could argue that it led to cap room for orlando to get lewis. however, we had a bigger hand in that, though.
