Berman reports that SI reports that in order to get David Lee interested teams have to take Curry also. Sorry but I can't link from my phone. It's in todays Post in the article about Curry.

So Lee will accept trade only if Eddy will go with him...

I think that has been out there for awhile. Walsh has basically told teams that anyone willing to take Curry can have Lee for cheap. No team wants to touch Curry and his 2 years at $10-11 mill each, especially not with the other issues surrounding him. If Walsh really wants to move Lee, he is probably going to have to back off the Curry stance.

stupid move to trade Lee to move Curry. So, basically we just eliminate talent (lee) to add cap room to attract free agents in 2010 who are going to look at the roster and see garbage?

This 2010 stuff is garbage. We need to look beyond 2010 and find our own star in the draft, either in 2009 or 2011 or beyond. Stop trying to cheat.

And in 2012, what about being players for Chris Paul & Dwight Howard? Give me a line up of Paul, Howard, Lee & two players that emerge from either our roster or the drafts in 09 & 11.

with the destruction which Isiah & Dolan wrought on this roster, that is being realistic.

I'm all for being a player in 2010, but I don't want to get left with the dregs, and end up like Orlando who set themselves to get Duncan & Hill, and were left with McGrady & a broken Grant Hill.

This is stupid. I won't trade David Lee. To me David Lee is now untouchable. We need to find a good player to put next to David. getting rid of him just to get rid of Curry is whacko.


In order of the basics--we should look to see if we can be opportunistic at the deadline for picks or younger players with the ending contracts

We need to resign Lee and Nate to contract extensions

We need someone outside of the organization with proven draft skills to have serious input in the next draft after this reach

Are you really going to kill Isiah for drafting Gallo?

You know that he wasn't his first option. Isiah would have taken Bayless, Randolph or some dude you've never heard of.

so whoever wants lee, has to not only give him an extension but lay out an extra $20 mil for curry - which basically makes trading lee very unrealistic...

Exactly, DJ. No team is going to pay Lee 20-24M per year through 2011. Work with me. You got Curry at 10M-11M per year through 2011 who might never play meaningful minutes ever again. Then you have Lee who will command anywhere from 10-14M per year.

So you're essentially paying 20-24M per year for David Lee. Teams can't afford that. David Lee alone is not good enough to make up for a team to miss out on another 10M per year player to be on the court for them.

It just seems far too unlikely...
