I don't even know where to draw the line between immoral behavior and minor violations. Is it cheating simply if the government says the product is illegal and OK if the government doesn't? Do we place that must trust in the morality of the government? Or is using PEDs morally comparable to going 56 MPH or higher on the highway (no big deal)? And if everyone cheats, isn't the playing field still level? I have no idea what the answers are to these questions but they're questions anyone casting HOF votes will have to ponder.
BTW, Pettitte belongs in the "admitted users" list. He admitted to trying PEDs.
If these roided players didn't affect the major records books so much, then maybe it wouldn't be so bad. But EVERYTHING fell. Records that stood for decades, gone and tainted beyond repair. Not broken fair and square but rather unfairly.
If any of you remember, when the DH came out in the AL, it was highly criticized and writers, people would often say that it wasn't fair to the game. That it wasn't fair to players of the past. Well this BIG mess isn't fair to them either. It's not even fair to the guys who broke those records, because they can be compared now to wether they are indeed some of the greatest. It's a big question mark (if not an *). I mean who do you call the greatest individual player at his position in the careers of players now?
It's a no brainer. It's one thing not to care at all about what's happening, but another thing when people try to justify it. In my opinion, baseball is beyond repair. You and many others confusion on were to stand on this issue is a testament to those facts. This is my opinion.
I'll never trust this' team again.
