This is from RealGM website:

The Phoenix Suns have begun exchanging trade proposals with teams for forward Amare Stoudemire, league executives told Yahoo! Sports on Thursday.

Steve Kerr apparently is determined to move Stoudemire ahead of the deadline.

“Everyone is on the table but (Steve) Nash,” one executive said.

Stoudemire is expected to opt out of his contract for the historic free-agent summer of 2010 and his relationship with the front office has reached a point where neither side wants him to be in Phoenix beyond 2010.
____

If this is true, we should really consider whether a trade of Lee or Harrington makes sense. Stoudemire has alot of talent but he also fails to commit himself on defense. If he can play center in the East, he would really fill a need for us.

Amare would be a stud in NYC, no doubt in my mind.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if this happened.

He's way talented

But he's never struck me as a winner. Bad attitude, questionable defense.

I'm not even sure I'd pony up Lee for him unless we could somehow land Nash.

Lee, Harrington, Rose and JJ2 for Amare and Barbosa...............kills two birds with one stone.

I would take Amare in a heartbeat - that would definitely open the door wider to get talent like Lebron here.

Well, let's see... the Knicks would actually have to give something to get Amare and Barbosa...

Would y'all be willing to do something like: Marbury + Lee + Nate + Chandler?

Harrington, Lee and Malik should be enough to get Amare. Barbosa, Jefferies and Nate should get that done.

That is giving up to much. Harrington, Lee and Malik should be enough.

You think the Suns would essentially agree to Harrington + Lee for Amare + Barbosa? I mean, I'd think they'd want a pick, which I don't think the Knicks are allowed to trade because no trading picks in back-to-back years...

The Knicks would have to include another prospect to get Amare. Amare > Lee; Barbosa > Harrington. They'd probably want Chandler because he's on a decent contract, but I'd prefer to include Nate because Barbosa and Nate are essentially the same type of player.

They want a pick.

I don't know if we can give them our pick this year, as we are losing it next year.

Marbury, Lee and pick is enough.

While they are not getting back equal talent in Lee, I believe Lee would be a better fit on that team with Shaq than Amare.

We need to take some salary back so Barbosa would fit the bill.

I don't know Sarvers business or if he is hurting, but phuch him if he is.

I disagree that Amare could be had for Harrington, Lee and filler, and that Barbosa can be had for Jeffries and Nate, but if your 2 for 5 trade goes through, we are left with:

Duhon/Barbosa/Chandler/Thomas/Stoudemire
Richardson/Gallinari/Roberson
xCurry/Jerome James/Marbury/Mobley and three open roster spots.

I don't really like the new team much either.

The pick is top 22 protected. The 2010 pick has to be given up though to the Jazz. Most likey the Knicks make the draft pick for the Suns if it came to that.

They could always fill the slot with D league players like Pat Ewing Jr. The Knicks would be 9 deep and adding Jr. would make them 10 deep and D'Antoni prefers 8-9 rotation mostly. Adding Amare would help attract FAs to Knicks. I don't think it would hurt to try this trade.

A lot of Suns fans are mad enough at Sarver and Kerr for losing D'Antoni. I highly doubt that they would add to that frustration by helping the Knicks out and sending Amare to them. They don't want to make D'Antoni look even better than he has been for us.

I think the only way we can get Amare is in 2010 when he is a FA.

I am not really a huge Amare fan... again, I think a lot of his success (Marion's) is a product of the system. I am not against him at all cost, but he is really the fourth or fifth best option after LBJ, Wade, Bosh and maybe Johnson.
