Gallo played a career high 23 minutes. He wasn't involved too much but he finally got some good minutes. I expect him to keep getting these type of minutes and hopefully he is getting close to 30 at the end of the season.

yup. He seemed to move differently tonight. Don't know if he is finally getting his legs or what.

It's a tricky balance for MDA and staff. I am sure they have him on a regimented minutes schedule.

To quote Isles it was a meaningless 23 mins. IMO He was put in for his offense but they didnt go to him much at all. Seriously both him and Chandler should have went after Wally and exploited his D. His value on the defensive end thus far is his length, not saying he's a liability yet but i'm pretty sure that's not what he was put in for.

Its funny but the last two games the Knicks plus, minus was best when Gallinari was in.

the Knicks' bench is decent, relatively speaking. TT, Galla, Nate, Wilson/Harrington.

I'm not worried too much. He's a rook and plays a lot when Nate is PG.

I think I've seen Nate pass him the ball a grand total of two times.

Nate always swings the ball to the other side of Gallo.

He is looking better and better on D, and I am seeing footwork from him than I never saw on his European clips. More than anything, I think that this is why MDA is willing to keep him in games for extended periods of time.

I would love to see him break out with a 15 plus point game. It would do a lot for his confidence and maybe he could have a more featured role in the economy.

when nate and al are in the game. gallo never sees the ball. I find that disturbing, since he is on the floor with both nuts quite a bit.

Would like to see Gallo get some minutes and more importantly some shots when the game is on the line.

I also think it would be very wise to let him run the Point ala Anthony Mason!!

In Europe he has shown to handle this role VERY well!

He is very Basketball smart!

Great court vision and a great passing SF!!!

I guess cause Gallo is a rookie that they are playing "keep away" with him. Remember earlier in the season in LA, they were doing that with Gordon? That passed.
I hope they do start getting Gallo the ball more. He clearly can get his shot off and clearly can shoot. He plays a team game unlike Harrington, who may score but doesn't know when to stop.
Gallo is slowly getting his legs back. Perhaps when these "star" teams are gone we will see Gallo shooting a bit more, because Harrington will not be as much of a focus.

edit - Notice how Gallo has the highest +- almost every game and he is getting decent minutes? Not saying it's all about him, but "I'm just saying".

Anyway, we are in these games against "great" teams who give the ball to their star players and are getting kind calls imo.

No criticism on this observation- just a real question. Is the +/- stat considered significant when evaluating a particular player's performance in a specific game? I have noticed his +/- also, and just wonder how that stat should be considered when evaluating any player's impact in a game, or whether it should even be considered at all.

it should be considered some, just like any other stat.

does anyone think Galo might be mentaly hesitant to go banging inside too much right now because he's scared to hurt his back. I feel like he doesn't really crash the boards too hard because he's nervous, not because he can't.

Let him keep adjusting to the ebb and flow of the quicker game. Im sure the touches will come in time.

I don't think this kid should be banging it up too much with his build. He is a parimeter player for now. He'll bulk up. I doubt he has hit the weights too much the last year with his injury.

Just keep him on the floor. Good players (if he is one) will elevate to the next level.

I get that feeling too. I think he'll be a different player next season after having a summer to finish rehabbing the back.

Yeah, I guess it's another stat to be considered but perhaps we shouldn't put too much weight on it. But it does show some validity as he is getting minutes and the team is doing well when he is out there (not garbage time). He is getting some touches on the ball BUT NOT MANY SHOTS. So, that is a bit interesting. I haven't seen him lately but would guess, from comments, that there is some truth to his passing abilities and playing good team defense. Let's not forget he has played professionally for years and was the leader of his team and now he is just trying to fit in here (and not "stand out").

I think it's one of those things to keep an eye on as you can't appreciate a player by just the box score obviously, but it does point to certain things when combined with all the comments about him.
