I am a mavs fan, but I took a liking to this knicks team after the rebuilding project started under Walsh and D'antoni. They had a 7 men rotation for along time and they showed heart by having a respectable record.
What happened at the garden last night was a disgrace, Rooting for an opposing team's player in your own building shows lack of class, lack of basketball IQ. What does it say about the lack of respect shown to your own platers? They played their heart out and were close most of the game, they deserved some love from their own fans in their own building. The players showed more heart than the fans, how often can you say that?
Kobe broke the record by padding his stats in garbage time, would you ever see MJ do that? That's why Kobe will never be in MJ, Larry or Magic's class. He has no class.
Not too long ago, this team was the laughingstock of the NBA, in less than half a season, these players, with this coach are regaining the respect across the league, that by itself is a great progress. Walsh always said that this was 2 year project, for those who are impatient with this team, just think that last season, your coach and GM was Zeke, your starting PG was Marbury, your starting center was Curry. You have come a long way baby, this team deserves a little more patience.

I will continue to follow this team from afar, they look promising for 2010.

Good luck.

I think you are giving MJ too much credit and old Knick fans. I remember going to games with so called "fans" with their Jordan jerseys on and openly rooting for him. Some even had the nerve to call themselves Knick fans. Hell I remember going to the Garden and seeing a number of Bird jerseys floating around. NYC has a good amount of frontrunners/bandwagon fans. Jordan admitted that he tried to score a lot of points at the Garden because he viewed it as the Mecca of basketball and wanted to showcase his abilities. What's the difference? Both players goals were to get the win and move on.
I don't like to play bad rookies , I like to play good rookies - Mike D'Antoni

Welcome to the board MavsFan. It's interesting to hear fans from across the nation taking a interest in the Knicks because of the rebuilding project.

Now the real question is.. can you get Mark Cuban's ear and convince him to take a chance on Eddy Curry?

Great advice MavsFan. Next time we will show more respect for our "platers." We will have more class and higher BBIQ, and we won't cheer for Kobe. Got that guys? No cheering for Kobe next time.

Thanks MavsFan!

I find it hard to believe that in the 90's with the fierce rivalry with the bulls, there would have been fair weather knick fans, but i was not there so i will take your word for it. But, the double nickel by MJ against that knick team is worth more than Kobe's 61 against this team, and by a long shot.

I am not sure about Curry. We already have a slow big man with a big contract in Dampier. I think we are trying to unload him. The new Guy, Hollins, that we got in the Gane trade looks very promising.

You can cheer for whoever you want, but how about cheering for the knick players, isn't that what playing at home is all about? This is your board, and your team, i am just a guest telling you how it looked from the outside. It did not sound too good on sportscenter last night, and I felt sorry for the knick players, that's why I posted.

A lot of the people who attend games at MSG are not hardcore Knick fans. The tickets are very expensive and executives like to bring their out of town guests to the games. A lot of visitors attend the games. They may not feel a commitment to cheer just for the home team, since it isn't their home team.

I think you underestimate the number of non-NYers that attend games. Its tough being the capital of the world... you get a lot of people from other parts...I think every time people started to chant MVP, Knicks fans attempted to drown it out. The Lakers are a popular team among front-runners in NY, cause they aren't Boston and they have Kobe... but I like to think of Kobe as an expensive steak...

It is a disgrace how the fans reacted at the Garden....but a great percentage of the people in the garden don't even care about the Knicks. They wanna be in "the worlds mot famous arena" and see see the star of the night do something cool.....Kobe didn't play @ MSG last year I don't think so the stage was set.

I been trying to make a point to defend my Knicks right now. A lot of haters wanna clown us that Kobe dropped 61....but as I said....it took Kobe scoring 61 and Gasol dropping 31 and barely missing to defeat the supposedly "aint **** knicks" by only 9!!! After hearing some of the douche bags slob Kobe's knob all day you would think the Knicks got blown by 50pts.

Knicks are showing heart and they deserve our respect right now. All the real fans need to take the hoods off and defend the fort. I never stopped. I'm not afraid to say I love the Knicks and I don't care if someone has something stupid to say about it. Good or bad...they are my team....how sweet it is now that they are really starting to show signs of getting better.

Did someone say we should have more platters of BBQ?

MavsFan obviously misses the old hookups at Dallas BBQ.

Thanks for input. But it is hard to understand New York.
You need to be there for long time to start just feeling it a bit.
NY is the Babylon of our time. It has everything mankind produced - good and bad. Good bbal fans and bad bbal fans.
