So now that we've seen a bit of The Rooster, is there anyone after #6 that you'd still prefer to have at this point?

Also, what do you think his ceiling is? At best, I think he'd be a Hedo Tukoglu-type. At worst, Jason Kapono, maybe?

he's 19 years old. there's no telling what his ceiling or floor is at this point. just hope the kid can stay healthy and can develop without any physical hindrance.

Too soon to say. Hopefully, he starts next season healthy and with a little experience. We'll know then.

After seeing his shooting form and overaall play, i think his ceiling could be Stojakovic (the current one that is).

That's who I really see. The current one although he seems to excel on the spot shooting but has trouble with shooting off the dribble

I don't know what Gallo's ceiling is but I feel he's definitely not even scratching the surface yet. Which is why I think some of this Turko and other euro comparisons are crap! The guy hasn't opened up his game yet but just watching him play I see his instincts and reaction time is quicker than his body is right now. I don't think his fitness level very good at this point so take what you see with that in mind.

I can him being far more explosive once he's fully healed and has a chance to develop more strength. He's going to make moves but lacks the fitness level to really execute. I think he's gonna be better than Peja or Hedu. He's already got more of a killer instinct than both. His mentality is more like a lead Star player.

Minimally the guys taken 7-12. I don't think I have seen enough of Gallo to predict his future if he stays healthy. I love his shot and hustle. His defense has been horrible and I have noticed that he looks at the ball when he is trying to drive to the basket in traffic.

Gallo has made some dribble drives/pull ups that you rarely see from 6'11 guys. He has a really unique skillset. I'm not interesting in making any comparisons, but I think he could have a rapidly rising career arc a la Dirk.

I agree. Some of the comments seem to suggest that Gallo can't handle the ball or get by his man. I've seen the guy pump fake and drive, pull up for smooth jumpers too. The kid defends well for a rookie at his size. He's got a LONG way to go. Still you can see so much already that indicates he has a ton of upside.
He may look a bit gawky but he moves effectively enough to create space he needs to get off.

I like Gallo, there is some definite potential there. The man can shoot. I think as he gets stronger he will get by his man more regularly or just shoot over them. I noticed this in the first half in the summer league and my thoughts haven't changed here. He is open a lot off the dribble because guys give him room but I don't think he realizes how open he is yet. Experience will teach him that. He has a long way to go and it's difficult to tell what type of player he is going to turn in to. but it's clear that the man has skills. The draft is not an exact science so I do not covet other players and I don't whine if we don't get the best one. A lot of times development is situational, so succeeding in one scenario does not always mean a guy would have succeeded elsewhere. You just never know. I just want my GM to draft a good player and hope the coaching staff can do the rest. We can all cry about wanting Gordon or Bayless or whoever else. But we didn't draft them, so stop coveting and get excited about your own guy, you big whiney, crying babies.

Its all about health with this guy. He's got to prove he's not the old Larry Bird before he's going to have a chance at being the young Larry.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I see some similarities with Dirk Diggler as well but I am sticking to my guns that he is Bird Lite. I am not talking about just skillset as well. His mannerism and ****iness, pun intended, is another trait I am really excited about Gallo. He is not just a shooter. He can create and he plays very good defense. He rebounds well. He does not back away from opposing players when they try to get physical with him.

Folks. Gallo is the real deal. Barring injuries, Gallo and The Mayor will rule Gotham.

I like the kid he has active hands and looks to be a winner. He is young and it will take him three years before we really see who he is as a player, but that being said if he turns out to be injured and just average Walsh ****ed up big time here.

Eric Gordon for the month, which he would be putting up here with ease. The kid is a star, and a second star for the class of 2010.
21.9pts

Brook Lopez is also going to be an AllStar center in the east and is a huge defensive presence and is already impacting wins out there.

So Gallo can't be good he has to be special

I've got two Gallinari questions:

When is his bad back going to act up again?

And

How many months is he going to be out the next time it does?

If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Bird was a dominant post player coming out of college. Gallo has yet to catch 1 ball in the post.

The comparisons to Bird are silly.

Gallo's biggest weakness is his sub-standard athleticism.

My biggest fear is that he will not be able to take anybody off the dribble and that he will never learn to post up.

I like the kid as a player - would I have preferred Eric Gordon? Yes I would have. Brook Lopez - yes probably.

That said - I really like Gallo and I'm hoping he is able to maximize his talent for a long run with the Knicks.

There is nothing in Gallo's game that reminds me of Larry Bird
