my thoughts on player's performances last night:

Van Horn - great game with tons of pressure on him... this bodes well for the Knicks

Houston - timing WAAAAYYY off... he will be okay, but prob not until game 4 or 5 - needs his legs back

Thomas - he is gonna have problems this year... against centers, he could lob in those 15 fters non-contested - but he is not a back to the basket PF, and that is a problem... we need McDyess for the PF position badly

Mutombo - good start - if his legs can get stronger and Chaney plays him more down stretch, he can give us 10 and 10 a night

Ward - terrible start to the game, but still our most consistent PG - combined with Eisley, they make for decent, non-All Star stats per game (15 pts, 12 assists per probably)

Eisley - okay at the point, laughable as the SG

Anderson - shoot me now... this guy is HORRIBLE - he way out of control horrible last year and in game 1, and yet Chaney still plays him 30 minutes a game - I just can't figure it out

Doleac - like the shaved head and little goatee... makes him look at least as tough as my grandmother now, but the guy has to learn that shooting from just inside the 3 pt line is not where centers earn their keep - he is Travis Knight without the mullet

Sweetney - needs time obviously, but this guy will never be a star in the league - he's too damn small and wide

FatSpoon - didn't play, thank God

Williams - the guy shows signs of speed bursts and brilliance, but then it's like he forgets he's on the court - another puzzler

And Lastly - Chaney - HORRIBLE... this is a fairly different team than last year and yet they still can't close the deal on games - this must be the coaching - in the final minutes, and well as how you manage the team throughout the game.... having most of the key starters (except for Allan) out to start the fourth when the dagger could have been sunk was terrible - Mutombo should have out there to provide the intimidation, instead of Mr. Clean standing out at the 3pt. line... terrible - the performance of this team starts with Chaney - you want to like the guy, he seems nice enough, but he is just not a good coach

Overall, the team looked good considering they really hadn't played together at all - problem is they need to get off to at least a 5-5 start, and the schedule is doing them no favors, with Spurs, Kings, and Bucks (plus the Magic again - and you know McGrady will have a better game) all in the next four games - not promising

KVH - Well done, except for fouling out
H20 - That knee will bother him all season long. He will get better than last night, but only a little. He's in for a long season.
KT - Why is he shooting 18-footers? He should be shooting 10-footers. Disappointing.
Deke - Creak. Still, better than having Crazy Eyes at the 5.
Ward - Ward. That's about all you can say. Decent veteran PG who should be a backup to a better PG.

Eisley and Anderson - If we can't trade them, can we at least tie them up and dump them in the East River?

Doleac - Bite your tongue, bcssju78! Knight has no strength, no 'bound ability, and a contract over 4 times the size! Doleac played good solid D, rebounded, kicked out quickly. This is the one Knick where you get your money's worth! It's not his fault Chaney left him in when he should have been sitting. Shooting from outside is his game. The reason he doesn't post up is because he can't dribble. Still, he won't win any dance contests anytime soon.

Sweetney - Sweets is an apt nickname. 'Nuff said. Change his nickname to Salads and get back to me.

Frank - Sloppy, sloppy. I think he'll get better, but not much, just like Allan's knee.

Chaney - got them playing good D at first, better team D, better rebounding. Still absolutely no offensive game plan. It's like playground or YMCA ball. Just pointless. And the choking, after a few seasons of it, you start to think "Gee, could the coach have anything to do with it?" Things that make you go "hmmmmmmmm".

Both teams played some of the most boring ball known to man in the first half. Orlando seemed rusty, NY seemed ilke this is the best they get.

Spurs and Kings, two tough teams. Bucks? They should be one of the worst teams this year, if not THE worst. If the Knicks can't beat the Bucks, start diggin' some holes.
