LAST NIGHT 29 PTS 8 REB + l steal is just the beginning of good things to come. Nobody could stop him last night, he showed quickness with skill, he showed passion and showed strength. Great trade Layden
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

well, one game does not make a season or a career, but it sure was nice. VH has to keep up the aggressiveness.

What is amazing is how the media & fans still bad mouth the guy after he put up 29pts & 8rebs !!! So if he gets 16pts & 6rebs in his next game he is REALLY GARBAGE !!! LOL....I will never understand !!!
What does DICK CHANEY & DON CHANEY have in common ?? They both accidentally fell into a job they don't deserve & really suck at doing it !!!! Both need to be fired !!!

Excellent point martin. I like the trade even though we got rid of Spree but his height and skills is what the Knicks need. Now, if he can stay aggressive he would be a SUPERSTAR!

One game and he is a star?!? Cool ya heels. Let's see what he does on a night in, night out basis. THEN we'll have a more accurate assessment of what we're dealing with regarding him.

Remember that the goal is to WIN. All that hooplah and we still caught an L. Losses don't make me happy.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I liked the way he played, but when he came back in the fourth quarter he never got back into the flow of the game, then fouled out. Chaney sat him too long? Or the Magic played better D? Didn't he have the rookie defending him most of the game?

We'll have to see how he does over the course of the season.
With KVH, consistency is the question. Where will he be at the critical moment?

Van Horn had a great game. I was very impressed. We can deny that 'size matters' in any aspect of life or basketball, but the truth is that it always does. KVH, Thomas and Deke made a very tough frontline on the defense, that the Magic simply could not handle. On the offense, KVH had crossovers and some great moves to get to the basket for close shots. When you have a guy like that, it makes a big difference. The key is getting the rest of the team in synch to take advantage of it.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

slow your row, playa, slow your row. this is not only one game but a game against a team where their good paint players are not over 6'9" ( howard and gooden). he was burning gooden, who is a marginal defender at best. hey, he did have a good game and i was cheering him. but can he do this consistently? maybe not avg. 29 ppg but 20points or 21 points per is the ability that he can acheive. i see him scoring 12points the next game when he visits the defensive minded spurs. yeah, it is not kvh ability to score against drew gooden that will make him good. it is his ability to score against kevin garnett that we need to watch. will he disappear or relish the challenge? that makes a star let alone a superatar. lets see his stats by february and see if he is selected into the all-star game before we get too giddy.

I agree, you're right about that. It's not about one game. However, right now all we have to go off of is one game. In this one game he looked very impressive. Can he do it against Garnett? We'll see. Houston didn't get it done against McGrady (injuries aside). Great defenders slow down good scorers. If Van Horn can be our leader, along with Houston, I think we've got something good, any way you slice it. I think he can more consistent than in the past, because on the Knicks he's in a situation where he can succeed. Time will tell. After one day, he's one of a few Knicks I was satisfied with. It's up to the rest to get on par.

KVH played great, but the more you look at the Orlando team the more you have to reserve you judgement on the Knicks until some more games are played. Man the Magic have a bunch of non-impact players on their team. I'd be surprised if Orlando makes the playoffs with the cast of players they have.

Excellent point, Andrew. The Magic is basically T-Mac and role players. T-Mac was not even on top of his game. We play SA on saturday, right? That will be a better barometer.

OK, so after last night- one game- does that make KVH a friggin star? NO.

If he ends up being inconsistent and dissappearing in games like his track record dictates, will there be any real reason for the KVH fan club to beat their breasts- oh, I mean chests? NO.

If KVH has a career year that lands us in the Lottery (AGAIN, like with Allan Houston last year), would it matter at all to ANYONE with half a brain whether KVH is garbage or not?? HELL FRIGGIN NO.

If the Knicks do no better than we did the last 2 years, it is indicative that the whole team is garbage. KVH would be just another piece of trash in the damn bag.

Icing on the cake...
Here's a poster for the fan club:

Now do YOU see MY point?

Actually, to be fair to KVH, It was Houston's points we didn't have last night. Keith isn't Jordan, not gonna be. But he is definitely not garbage, either. We need Allan back at full strength. Perhaps Dice as a bonus. There could be some reasons to smile yet. Why not be happy that the Spree trade is looking to not be a bust. I, for one hope that it wasn't. I want KVH to take advantage of every size mismatch he can.

Like Camby, if he can survive the initial criticism period, watch KVH turn into a fan fave. It's a familiar formula: abuse the guy over and over, demoralize him in public, and if he stays and bears it, you end up growing a soft spot for him, and 'poof' - he's suddenly in the fraternity. Then he abuses the next guy...

Snowman, read some of the posts carefully...no one is knocking KVH. There have only been praises for him in this thread, even from the doubters.

exactly, I think Giricek is overrated, and gooden and Howard are redundant. The rest of those guys suck. they miss armstrong...

Really funny how now our moderators want to cover up the bashing that guys threw around all pre-season long about how KVH was a soft bust and we got robbed when we traded him for Spree, now all we hear are Praises? Don't cover up, stick to ya guns of being negative and lets see who knows what they are talking about about KVH. (Some)of You guys are double minded Chaney coaches a bad at the END OF THE GAME and he gets slammed for EVEN THOUGH IT'S HIS FIRST GAME WITH THIS ROSTER , Vanhorn plays like a true star and people now say it's only one game? Go Figure.

I will be the first to admit that I didnt want Van Horn on this team - I will also say that I did post several times about how Knicks fans should embrace him rather then hate him so he at least gets a chance in NY. Do I think he is a star? No. I think he is an effective player - and on a roster full of ineffective bums that makes him look like a star. I don't hate Van Horn, but I dont love him either.
