OK, I'm just stat watching but unless somebody can actually comment, I like what I'm "seeing".

He had his highest scoring game a couple of days ago: 30 points on 13 - 22 shooting. 9 rebounds (4 offensive), 4 STEALS!, 4 assists. Only 1 - 4 on 3 pointers, that has been his Achilles so far (26%, ouch).
He seems to be very Balkmanesque with his balance but his shot is much much better from what we have heard. Also, he is a very good passer.

He followed that up with 21 points on 7-15 shooting, 6 rebounds (again 1/2 of that is offensive) and 6 assists.
His season numbers are now at: 34 minutes (off the bench), 15 points on 47%FG, 8.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, .7 blocks, + 18 eff.

I would love to see him get some of Gallo's minutes on the second night of back to back games. I think he can add to our defensive play of late, and with Gallo being the great shooter he is I think Jr.'s shooting "woes" will be less troublesome and he could focus on his game more.

i rather see him getting playing time over Fishlips or Tiny Tim... Gallo needs to be playing to build up his strength, as long as those minutes are controlled each game he should be fine.

Another nice game last night. He got a start, 43 minutes

6-14 for another 21 points. 8-11 FT, 1-3 on 3 pointers. 7 rebounds 3 OFFENSIVE, 5 ASSISTS, 2 STEALS and 3 BLOCKS!

What a nice all around line, seriously. On a down note 4 TO.

He is scoring about 18ppg this month. He rebounds GREAT, gets to the free throw line and HITS most of his FT's.

I agree TMS, even with Tiny Tims shooting last night, there is a place for some defensive on this team. I would love to give this kid 5 - 10 minutes a night.

The numbers are better than what he put up in college but that was the case with his dad also. It maybe he is putting up the numbers because they are running D'Antoni's system.

Jr. might be a late bloomer. I hope they are keeping tabs on him and watching him. If he's for real, then I wouldn't mind signing him. (pre-response: Shut up GKFv2!)

He clearly is getting better in that league. OK, he is not playing in the NBA with those numbers but he is playing with very good players and remember that article that said he stood out head and shoulders above them. Athletically he will be in the top 5% or so in the NBA. He is a monster there. He also has a head on his shoulders, great IQ, is a team player, can finish and his shot is sloooowly getting better. So yes, I see him as not only a late bloomer as you mentioned but another glue guy who can excel at the defensive end and has an all around game.

I'm talking about him being the 15th man until he can help us more. But honestly, he can help us now with his presence. Look at how Gallo energized the crowd and the team is "suddenly and coincidently" playing better. Of course it's not a coincidence and Gallo adds a lot to the team, much like JR will imo. (Remember his affect in pre-season? It was preseason, but the crowd just loves him). Those types of players you can't quantify but they help others. Even like having Malik Rose in the locker, we don't see the affect except perhaps on the court through other players.

PE Jr really is a perfect fit for the Knicks... the Knicks need a guy that hits the hustle stats AND is professional, what Balkman lacks. I don't care if he doesn't crack the rotation because this kid would be a tremendous asset at practice.

Hey, it's the only numbers we got. We need a defensive presence and are probably going to sign the guy when a spot opens, so really, what is your problem then? It's not like he's just some random Dleague player, which is ok if he might help us.

If he was in Europe then I'd be giving you Euro numbers. Dleague is not the NBA but it's not college either.
BTW, notice Gallos numbers and his Euro numbers... you never know...

I bring him in and he gets some of jeffries minutes and Q's minutes, if we play small and let duhon get some minutes at SG..... Ewing will give us some highflying athleticism that we miss vs teams like the sixers.... We could use that..

Premature to cut Jefferies and Q's minutes -- Knicks need to make them look good in order to move them. Both are providing some decent play at times - Junior not yet ready for prime-time. Maybe he comes in at the end of the season after D-League wraps up so that he can maximize playing time down there.

Agreed... Q expires at the right time and maybe he can be moved for a pick if the Knicks promise to send money if his back blows up. A team that needs depth may talk themselves into Jeffries if he keeps looking serviceable

Exactly.
After trading deadline and mathematically missing the playoff (which is almost granted to be early then late) we can experiment as much as we want.

Making Jefferies look good is really an oxymoron, I mean how? He plays ok defense but on offense, his shot is inconsistent and he can't finish around the basket (And he is TALL). I agree to keep playing them, but if a better player (JR) comes along, you guys mean to tell me you will continue to play Jefferies in order to move him? Jefferies is only going to get moved for something comparable and since he expires in 2011 our only chance is to move some talent with him and take back a 2010 expiring. I just don't see anyone at his price really wanting him. Maybe a contender that has an injury and needs a defensive presence. I guess then luck is on our side. Oh God and then we have Curry (wishing him the best in his recent personal tragedy).

Now with Q I don't think we will have as much of a problem, cause he has better all around game and he expires anyway in 2010, right? I don't see how we could get a pick for him though??? We don't want something coming back that is longer, unless you are talking a very good talent that fits this team, but then that is the payoff not a pick. (I mean unless Isiah gets a job elsewhere ;)

Regardless, I'm only talking about 5 - 10 minutes a game for Ewing Jr. We just go from there, more or less minutes depending on how he plays, not on showcasing our crap. When will it end.

One thing we can all say about D'Antoni, he seems to play whoever is playing best, not like Isiah staying with favorites most of the time.

Q doesn't have to go anywhere he's going away all on his own on July 1, 2010 which is perfect.

Jeffries...is a different situation and no matter how much you play him he will still find a way to look like trash - yet - he still has to play decent minutes if we have a chance to move him. It's gotta be him since Curry's fat ass is going no where until 2011.

See, he is shooting better ;)
For those of you unfamiliar with JR. it's a nice read in the quoted text below, the link I mean. Well, if he is in our future, we will know in the next month or so.
Patrick Ewing Jr. was a big-name acquisition for the Bighorns of the D-League back in December, but he struggled with his shooting early.

Things are now starting to pick up for Ewing, with the former Georgetown Hoya averaging 17.9 points and shooting .520 (78-150) from the field in his last 12 games. This is a marked improvement for Ewing, who shot only .344 and averaged 10.5 points in his first six games as a Bighorn. He made his first start of the season on Saturday, scoring 21 points with seven rebounds and five assists in a win over Bakersfield.

http://www.theknicksblog.com/2008/12/26/scouting-the-d-league-sims-and-ewing-jr/
TKB scouted Jr. in person a month or so ago, and his athleticism, as well as his IQ, stand out. As much as I think he’s still a part of the Knicks future, I’m starting to doubt it. But I will still hold out hope.
