I think Jared Jeffries gets an incomplete (He hasn't had enough of a chance since returning from injury. If I had to rate him now I would give him a C+.)

Richardson gets a C- (He has s good attitude and tries hard and has helped us win some games with better shooting recently.)

Nate gets a C+ (He did play some B ball before his recent slump)

Coach gets an A in my book. He got the most out of his players especially with the change of personnel and did an excellent job imo.

Lee: A-
Duhon: A-
Nate and Chandler - given their slumps - get C.
Thomas, Jeffries - we know who they are so they get C as well otherwise it'd be a lot lower.
Harrington - C+, cause he doesn't have to be such a chucker otherwise higher.
Q - B-, kinda high but he does play hard and has been playing much better this year.
Gallo - Incomplete, but, I'd be inclined to give him a B- given how well he has looked in such short time.
Malik - D
Robersuck - D-
Curry, James - F-

Coach - A
Management - A- (hey, balkman, robersuck, truckbury dragging on gets the minus on the record)
Overall - C ... we know they're not very good and the record reflects it so they get the C.

MVP: David Lee
MIP: Duhon (going back to last year)

Wilson Chandler (aka Winston Chambers): C- (Let me explain, I am not grading his performance against my expectations, I am considering him against the rest of the league. Right now, I think he is a below average SF when compared against guys like Lebron, Pierce, Carter, Iguodala, etc...)

Chris Duhon: B (again, he is a brighter spot and doing better than I expected, but what do you give CP3, DWilliams, Rose and other if you give Duhon an A?)

Danilo Gallinari: (INC.-- the last couple of games have him on his way to a B, but too soon to tell)

Al Harrington: (C+ -- can take over games, either for good or bad... some consistency and better defense in the second have could bring him up to a B+, but that's probably his limit.)

Jared Jeffries: (INC. By all accounts, he is failing. His ability to defend, which is not altogether amazing doesn't make up for his poor play elsewhere)

David Lee: A- (Love the effort, the rebounding is masterful... offensive game is expanding, defense is suspect, but he is doing his best given the situation. By far the best player on the team. Plays well with others.)

Quentin Richardson: C-- a bit out of shape and jacks up a bit too many shots. Because of the good attitude, its hard to give him less than a C-, but there just isn't a lot of juice left in this guy.

Nate Robinson: (C- has all of the athletic skills to dominate the PG position, just lacks the intelligence to be a pg, so he ends up undersized at the sg and plays catch up the rest of the way. Gets too excited and loses control of himself and the ball. Got to love the energy, but at what cost?)

Tim Thomas: (D+ let's face it, Thomas wasn't brought in to save the franchise. He is performing above expectations, but, he just doesn't have it.)

Coach : B+ Doing the best with that he has. Handled Marbury and Curry pretty poorly. But has shown the power of his game in the first 10 games of the season. This team has trouble executing the plan, but the plan can work. In the last 41 games, I think this team has a winning record unless they purposefully tank the season... not a player on the draft board worth tanking for though.

Overall Team Grade: C Giving it the benefits of the doubt based upon the trades and injuries. This isn't a championship team. It is pretty average. It should be a borderline 8th seed which puts it squarely at a C.

Mid-Year MVP: David Lee
Mid-Year MIP: Duhon. From the Bench to starter, he has performed well above expectations.

You know I gonna spin wit it

Wilson Chandler (aka Winston Chambers): C+, below personal expectations. Will be special.
Chris Duhon: A+, great personal success story. Always love a diamond in the rough. Heroic by playing through back spasms, a 7 man rotation, initially in Steph's shadow, etc,...
Danilo Gallinari: A+, back issues result of staff mismanagement, great confidence, poise; obvious leader. Incredible touch on jumper, to boot.
Al Harrington: B, resurrected image and career, sometimes too shot-happy (Jamalesque), perfect in a reserve role.
Jared Jeffries: B, given the popular pessimism, he has remained mentally strong, improved mid-range game. Instrumental to key wins over NOH, BOS with his defense on opponent PG's.
David Lee: A+, ALL STAR, PERIOD.
Quentin Richardson: B+, leadership in locker room underestimated. Streaky shooter. Had a few big games from behind the arc. Got to love his passion.
Nate Robinson: B, a knucklehead at times, quirky fan-favorite nonetheless. Several highlight moments and and a lot of heart.
Tim Thomas: B, mature in his acceptance of a niche, reserve roll. Very aware of strenghts and short-comings. Key bench player, and loving it.

Coach : A++??,need I say anything? Honesty, wisdom, friendliness, and inspiring a general revolution as far as team chemistry goes; a people person. We must be grateful he fell in our laps.

Overall Team Grade: B+, Steph saga, Roberson misfire, and Eddy's gayness are about the only dark clouds above this franchise. Awesome break from the past, and great restraint in managerial dealings since new regime took over. Patience, wisdom, and accountability: three crucial attributes that come to mind when describing the new regime, the new club, as a whole.

Mid-Year MVP: Chris Duhon- floor general; hope he stays for our championships.
Mid-Year MIP: David Lee- took on a whole 'nother meaning this season. Embracing his quasileadership role with grace; extremely able-bodied individual.

Wilson Chandler (aka Winston Chambers): (B-) Inconsistent but should get better. Has a lot more promise than I thought.

Chris Duhon: (A-) Who would have ever thought he would be in the top 5 in assist? The best floor general we had since Jax second stint.

Danilo Gallinari: Incomplete- See me again in April

Al Harrington: (A-) Good to see a player enjoyin their best season as a pro for ONCE in NY. Still inconsistent but clearly the most talented offensively on the team.

Jared Jeffries:(C+) Better than any other year and he provides good defense and does the intangible things but still a disappointment considering the hype he came to the pros with.

David Lee: (A) Only reason he doesn't get an A+ is because he started rocky when Z Bo was here. He can still improve his game especially offensively but he has added a 15 foot shot and is a rebounding fool.

Quentin Richardson: ( B)- He continues being the rebound kid. Last season, dreadful. This season, he has been doing key things at the right time. Hope it last and he won't fade.

Nate Robinson: (B+)- Uh, early sixth man of the year candidate? I think so, ladies and gentlemen. Great sparkplug off the bench though his fiery personality has helped and hurt them ( a la John Starks?)

Tim Thomas: (B-)- Better than expected though a trade to get him for Z bo seems a little lopsided, his REAL value is in 2010. That is why he will not get a grade lower than a B from me.

Coach : ( B+)- He has made this team a lot more enjoyable than in recent years and they seem to love playing for him. It is refreshing to have a coach who doesn't bring drama or tension like the coaches we were used to all the wa back to the Riley days. He has his flaws ( giving up 106 ppg?) but he is trying to address them.

Overall Team Grade: (B)- It is hard to give a grade as high as a B for a team that is currently 7 games below 500. However, they are only 6 wins away from tying their win total of last year BEFORE the all star break. They seem to get better as a team and they have a LEGIT shot at going into the playoffs. However, the real reason for the grade is the rebulding process they are exhibiting. They made trades for the future as well as doing their research to see if these players can play well under the SSOL system and they proved they could. Remarkable achievement and the future seems bright for this team. The payoff is coming in a year and a half and I can't wait.

Wilson Chandler: B - has become a starter 2nd year in the league and continues to improve. Has hit a wall but that doesnt take away from the fact that he's worked hard and established himself as an NBA starter and core minutes guy.
Chris Duhon: A - played hurt, outplayed better players, been a great leader and floor general. Played beyond expectations
Danilo Gallinari: INC
Al Harrington: C+ has been streaky and disappears when his offense isnt working
Jared Jeffries: B for working hard to get back after a broken leg. Still finding his role.
David Lee: A all-star numbers
Quentin Richardson: B after back problems came in in good shape. Has defended and rebounded well. Played good team ball.
Nate Robinson: B still learning what kind of NBA player he is, but plays hard and is improving
Tim Thomas: C
Coach : A we have a style of play. Guys play hard everynight. He's been patient with the lack of talent he has to work with. Team played well despite some big distractions. This roster is limited in talent, size and has a lot of holes. Yet they have played well most nights and have a handful of quality wins. Not sure what else I could ask of a coach given the players and the circumstances

Overall Team Grade: B-

This roster isnt dynamic or very talented. There are a handfull of pretty average NBA players. Its a year of big trades and gutting an old roster. Its a year where the two most productive guys have been traded and the two meant to be built around have done nothing. Still.. there are some bright spots, and a change of culture is clearly underway. In a year of low expections Knicks have been pretty good most nights and they act and play like a real NBA team. Given the mess this team was a year ago I think what we have seen so far is mostly positive. Not sure its really worth watching yet however

Wilson Chandler (aka Winston Chambers): B- Wilson has played very well in stretches, but has been inconsistant. Pretty good effort over all but we all would like to see more. He's still young and is being asked to start and do a lot of things thats why I give him such a high grade, hes taking it all in stride.

Chris Duhon: A- Gotta give it up for duhan, running the team, playing hurt, leading. He's done it all. The only reason I give a minus is cuz opposing point guards have killed us so bad that we have even went as far as putting 6-10 jarred jeffries on them.

Danilo Gallinari: Inc but based off his limited minutes he gets an A he has done just about any and everything u could ask givin the situation.

Al Harrington: C+ Has played really hard, and scored well... But takes really bad shots and kills ball movement. Needs to learn how to make a move then pass.

Jared Jeffries: B- for what we ask of him, he has done pretty well. His offense is still unreal but he is playing his roll.

David Lee: A the only reason I don't give him a A+ is cuz there were times early in the year where he was not competing at all on defense. He has gotten a hell of a lot better though

Quentin Richardson: C+ Some good games, some bad. Still throws up terrible shots but if he keeps posting up this grade will improve

Nate Robinson: B- he gets a high grade cuz he started off so amazing, fell off though but now seems to be getting it back together.

Tim Thomas: B I give timmy a high grade cuz he has exceeded expectations and hit some clutch shots, i personally thought he was going to be useless

Coach : B+ Got the team playing very well, very optimistic. Only downfalls are not intergrating Harrington into the offense properly and handling of the Marbury situation

Overall Team Grade: B-

what about a grade for GM?

Wilson Chandler (aka Winston Chambers): B- has shown flashes of being a dominate NBA player, but we saw similar flashes with Mardy & Frank Williams.

Chris Duhon: A+ and a bonus of 5 points to his final grade

Danilo Gallinari: Inc - if this was college, professor would have dropped him from class for missing so much time.

Al Harrington: C- besides the week when he first got here and was player of the week, he has just about been garbage.

Jared Jeffries: B- Missed time early, but his defensive presence has turned around the team. Maybe Isiah wasn't wrong to sign him, just wrong in how he got used early on.

David Lee: A+ with 3 points extra credit. He continues to improve and really is one of the star pupils.

Quentin Richardson: C+ the only thing that saves him from an outright F is his class participation and a few quizes he actually aced (i.e., his few stand out games)

Nate Robinson: D - and here is why- Nate is the class clown that you know is brighter than he lets on- you give those students worse grades than they deserve to motivate them.

Tim Thomas: C+ Tim has a bad case of senioritis, and sometimes shows how smart he is, but clearly his mind is not in game as often as it should be. Coasting.

Coach : A- He has gotten a crap roster of disparate parts to play together, and has laid a framework for future growth. Their record could be much closer to 500 than it is- they've blown several winnable games- but I don't think you can blame him. He made adjustments in terms of slowing things down, perhaps just a tad late, thus the -

Overall Team Grade: B- much improved play. competitive most nights where last year they started the game down 20 and were out of it. Blew a bunch of winnable games and should be much closer to 500 than their record indicates.

Mid-Year MVP: Duhon/Lee - co MVPs
Mid-Year MIP: No One! Lee continues to play to what everyone thought he would do with more minutes- no improvement. Chandler would have gotten it, but he has slacked off. JJ2 missed much of the season with an injury and might get it year end. Perhaps Marbury should win it, as his play has improved by not being around.

Walsh: B+ I'm giving him a B+. I think the Marbury thing could been handled better, but I don't think it was badly mangled like some do. The Zach trade was excellent, but I'm not so sure about giving up Mardy just to include a body (why not roberson), especially after he knew Mobley might not play again.

Wilson Chandler (aka Winston Chambers): B-, this grade may fall... he's fading and he doesn't know how to stay inbounds
Chris Duhon: A, wasn't expecting him to give this many quality minutes
Danilo Gallinari: C-, grew some balls so maybe he'll improve (aka actually play)
Al Harrington: C, is for chucking
Jared Jeffries: C, he's been okay and a C is about his ceiling
David Lee: A+, wow
Quentin Richardson: B-, some good games but terribly inconsistent
Nate Robinson: C+, his great stretch was longer than his trainwreck stretch
Tim Thomas: C-, he's Tim Thomas

Coach : B, the team is improved but think he could do better

Overall Team Grade: C+, on pace for 34 wins, which isn't too bad considering we're the New York 2010s

Mid-Year MVP: Duhon
Mid-Year MIP: Lee

oh, forgot mvp/mip:

mid-season mvp: duhon- very close with lee but i am biased towards point guards and duhon proved that he is one of the best floor generals we had in awhile. we finally see the potential we saw when he played with duke behind jay williams.

mid-season mip: chandler- only because he had so little minutes last year and then all of a sudden inserted in the starting lineup and he is avg. close to 15ppg. that is nothing to sneeze at and he came up BIG in huge games, namely the celtics. he should be on the sophomore team this year when he wasn't even on the radar last year. amazing to me.
