Will you kindly stop announcing Gallinari's name, the way you do? That's annoying. Does the Dallas announcer say Dirks name, with a german accent? NOOO. Does the Phoenix announcer say Nash's name with a Canadian accent? NO! Does the Bobcats announcer say Boris Diaws name with a French accent? NO SIR! Did the Magic announcer say John Amaechi's name with a lisp? No. lol I'm also pretty sure the Houston announcer doesn't say "YAAAAAAAAAOOOO MIIING!!!!" in a Chinese accent.

Lets not go against the grain on this one.

I agree. Funny how Gallo himself had a problem with it. Is that really true? Wow. It does sound so stupid. I can stand how he says Chandler's name too - "WILSON CHANDLAAA." Rediculous.

Irked Danilo Gallinari doesn't like Italian oldies played after he scores

Danilo Gallinari gave the crowd a thumbs- up for its support Monday but he's not as excited about the music selection the Knicks are using after he scores.

Gallinari scored nine points, including his first NBA dunk in Monday's 102-98 win over the Chicago Bulls. After each of his four baskets, the Knicks' long-time public address announcer Mike Walczewski, using a thick Italian accent, said "Daneeelo Gal-lin-ar-ay" and then the Italian songs "Volare" or "That's Amore" were played.

When asked about hearing his name, Gallinari said: "I need to talk a little bit with them about that. Because it's not so good, the pronunciation. I will talk about that. As for the music, no, not so good."

Mike D'Antoni was somewhat surprised by the music selection himself and looked at the scorer's table after Gallinari's first basket.

Apparently, Gallinari would prefer to hear a more updated, age-appropriate song. Also, the Italian journalists who attend Gallinari's home games said the song stereotypes Italians.

Playa would have pounced all over this with the "I told you so"...Clearly Knicks brass is infatuated with the marketing aspects of Gallo's arrival and the idea of turning him into an ethnic gimmick to appeal to NY's melting pot.

Knicks look bush league for this.

Hey well at least they aren't playing the Sopranos theme music after he shoots like I seen a journalist suggest they do after the draft. I agree Sebstar, playa saw through it. Now he has been "removed" to keep other facts in the dark.

Playa =

Condon: "and the Knicks are over the limit..."

The Knicks PA guy is bush league all the way back to his sing-song Mar-berry schtick.

The Nets actually have one of the bast in the business. Nothing phony, he follows the tempo of the game and doesn't add silly game show host theatrics.

Next time you are downstairs from The Garden in Penn Station, pay close attention to the track announcer. The Knicks have a better alternative to this hack working right downstairs.

I miss John Condon dearly

Well, when you're announcing to 20 people, you don't have that much pressure to impress.

"the fi-yah mar-shall RE-quests that you PLEEEEASSEEE ex-tin-guish ALL smoking mah-terial"

K22 - you wanna talk announcers?

Dave Zinkoff - he was an announcer who knew how to bend words exactly the right way.

He could make an announcement for "no smoking" both informative and entertaining, without a trace of condescension.
