According to the New York Post Marbury said that he has at least one team interested in him and they are willing to make up the 1 mil. He now want's to see what Dolan and Walsh is willing to make that deal now that he is willing to give back one million bucks.
I didn't see this post so I put it up.
I think that Marbs is out of his mind. He needs to take the 3 -5 mil deduction and move on, or maybe we should just keep him for GP.

Maybe he is starting to miss playing ball. You're only young once.

However, this is saying to me the most anyone is willing to offer him is one million. That's pretty sad.

I still don't think he is aware that Walsh sees him as a trade asset first. Marbury has a very flawed ego and he has never been able to understand the give and take of the negotiating process. I think Walsh took him at his word and found negotiating with him a waste of time. Marbury will either be traded or not play this season.

Th $1 million - is that pro-rated oer the year?
If yes, then we will only save about $1/2 million as we have played 39 games as of today - almost 1/2 the season.
No big deal. Marbury will have to do better than that.

Its been so nice having no significant news on Marbury. I hope this isn't the start of a new wave of Marbury articles.

There's no reason it should be pro-rated. The Knicks have been paying him despite him not playing. Any numbers you hear aren't pro-rated. That being said, Marbury needs to sweeten the pot. I agree with BBJ, that this means that no team is offering him more than the veteran's minimum.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Exactly. At this point, the Knicks should just wait untill the deadline because, you just never know. After that, if his best offer is still 1 million, just keep him where he is. He doesn't hurt there.

$1 mil is about veteran minimum isn't it? nothing sad about that. this is great news it means one team is interested. if 2+ teams become interested then you would see more than the minimum being offered as they bid against each other. the higher the bidding, the more of a deduction marbury offers, and the more likely walsh is to approve.

Put yourself if his shoes. You have the chance to get a ring yet don't budge on your buyout offer when most buyouts would probably save the team around 3 millions dollars.
He is a businessman. If I had played this many years and could basically go to a team for a chance at a ring, I would do WHATEVER it took to get there.

We are going to try to trade him. We might be able to get a pick or a pretty good player (along with garbage at a year more) from a team looking to save money. E.g. - look at how Phoenix got rid of picks in years past for nothing - to Portland!).

Marbury is sad...Roberson aint complaining about not playing...neither is Jerome or Malik.....yet Marbs situation is sooooooo tragic.

When Marbs said it's just him agains a billion dollar company I almost threw up in my mouth....it has to do with the contract he signed. If he wants all his money, he's gonna get it by sitting where ever he sits doing nothing while the Knicks are playing basketball. What a moron.

a) wait till the trade deadline, perhaps a deal like Kenny Thomas + Brad Miller for Marbles

b) if no deal, unless Marbury takes a paycut, make em wait till March past his playoff eligibility AND then waive him, even without a paycut by then who cares

Marbury is getting soft. He said before that he deserves all his money from the Knicks now Pus Head will take money from another team? What is this? I guess he is getting tired of stalking other teams during games.

Marbs is stupid. He wants to let a mil go and says someone else will pick the mil back up for him? This guy is destroying whatever chance he has left of having an NBA career. Just plain stupid. This season is shot and it doesn't matter now if Donnie let's him go or not at this point, so why let him go at all? Let him suffer and wait and see if anyone picks his ass up next year. He won't get crap next year if anyone does. Because they know he isn't worth it. He should have took a 3 mil cut and ran to bastan with it. He might of actually had a chance to get a ring or at least make it to the finals. And he could have gotten a decent contract.

This is the problem of not' having an agent. He's too cheap and stupid to make the right decisions. That's the only' time I'll ever go to bat for this guy as to what he should have done. D'Antoni was right' to push this guy out and Donnie is right to not deal with him at all. I say let it run out and he'll be gone soon enough.

Either Dolan decides it's worth saving 2M dollars (1M + 1M tax not paid) to let him go or he decides it's worth 2M extra dollars to keep him here until the summer to make him squirm.

At this point it's halfway through the year. We've paid him 11M dollars to do nothing. So we either pay him another 11M dollars to do nothing or 10M to go away (again, this would save Dolan 2M because of the tax implications.)

At this point what would you do? Would you save the 2M dollars and let him go? Or spend an additional 2M dollars to "punish" him? That's all up to Dolan's ego I suppose.
