Would the Knicks with this coach get a legit C to go next to Lee?

I really do not think so--I think that is one major reason why he is not in Pheonix. I think he likes what Philly has--one athletic 5 with 3 F and a guard who are very athletic.

Personally I think trying to acquire so many athletes with skills at so many positions might be harder than going a little more traditional and efficient by putting a true 5 next to Lee

I'm very confused with this franchise. Too many players set up beyond the 3 point line--while it looks pretty when it's clicking---you cannot live and die by the jumpshot and that is why we are not a good team.

With Lee and a traditional C you will have the rebounding and defense needed to compete--but the realistic fact that we didnt go for a C in 2008 and Mike leaving Pheonix leaves me to believe they do not want a C.

BRIGGS, I'm right with you man. It's been frustrating that we haven't gotten a true center. We passed two very good ones up in the last three years.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Thabeet can't shoot 3s. Forget it then man, he is no use here. You can't win games with a low post player in this league.

if MDA doesn't want low post players on his team why didn't he trade Amare Stoudamire?

I think that would be a move the GM made on his own without consultation or approval from Mike D'. I am not sure if Walsh would do that at this point but I do think a GM sometimes needs to be an independent thinker. I don't think D' sees any reason to get a center so Lee could play the 4.

I think at the draft they were planning on having Eddie Curry play this season.

I know what your thought process is here though Briggs. You really want to know if we would draft Thabeet.

D'Antoni would be smart to draft Thabeet as he compliments this frontcourt and he wouldn't need to play him 40mins a game. He could play him 25 and use him for a defensive presence.

Briggs- I think it depends on what you mean by a legit center.

If you mean someone like a Dikembe Mutumbo, then yes, absolutely not.

Now, someone like a Chris Kaman- then I disagree, and I think D'Antoni would love that kind of center.

I don't think Mike'D doesn't want any low post players............ I do think he only wants one guy though. And he would prefer if that one player could face the basket and hit a 12 foot jump shot.

I agree it's tuff to find exactly what this coach wants, but he is the coach so we have to find it. And I'm pretty sure if we found a player that covers for Lees size and defense, that that player wouldn't be to good offensively himself. So I don't Lee can stay or MikeD would like that set up.

I think in Mike D's system, guys like Curry, Bynum, Mutumbo are not useless, but not useful either. D's system requires mobile, athletic, multiskilled players. Under Mike D, Amare expanded his range to just about the 3 pt. line.

I think that a guy like Ronny Turiaf would be more useful to this team than a guy like Curry.

MDA also OK'D the Shaq trade. There are varying reports that his hand was forced and basically knew he wanted out. Could make the argument that he was going through the motions and letting Kerr do as he pleased.

Amare stayed out at the elbow free throw line extended than he did on the low block. Amare isn't really a post player. The guy is shooting more and more and more and more and more as the yrs go by from 15ft away from the basket. The only time he plays on the low block is when he has mismatches, to give the defense a new look, or to slow the pace down. He goes in the paint more from P'R, screen rolls sets vs what he initiates on his own in the paint. This has been his game for some time now. Coach don't care about positions and he doesn't care about the core principles for which this game was founded on. He'd rather be an innovator.

Anyway the team doesn't even go SSOL too much anymore, as to why go ahead and speculate but I have my own idea why.

I think the answer is an obvious YES the Knicks will draft a legit center if they feel he's the best player on the board and fits the system.

I was a Brook Lopez fan last season but there were a # of concerns with him from his poor shooting %, to his lethargic movements on the court to his sometimes poor shot selection. It's possible the Knicks weren't very high on Lopez or its possible that they just liked Gallo more.

I think if they are presented with a legit (outstanding center) prospect that they feel can fit in the system they will draft him. If they think he'll kill the flow of the offense (E. Curry) they may take someone else.

In any event - I think it comes down to getting quality players and worrying less about whether they are centers or guards or forwards. We need to get better first and then focus on that one thing we really need. Right now we need so much.

LOL, you should add a color or use bold for that stuff you know. It's all true, Mike'D knew he was on the way out and just went threw the motions of what Kerr wanted........ he never wanted Shaq.

If the draft decision is between a sure-thing shooting guard or a question mark at C like Thabeet sometimes seems to be, I guess you can fill the need at SG and call it a day.

Only in the crazy world of is there question mark about Thabeet playing at center. This is the same guy that traded on draft days Deng, Rondo, Rudy Fernandez, Sergio Rodriguez and Nate Robinson for garbage picks and aging players. Let's just say his draft decisions doesn't inspire confidence in me.
