At 24, Kevin Pittsnogle is a middle school teacher in his hometown. He is also an unpaid assistant coach for a high school basketball team. He bowls in leagues three nights a week and occasionally plays bingo at Big Bucks Bingo. His wife, Heather, is a bank teller. They have two children and live in a double-wide trailer.

He still considers professional basketball, but his more immediate concern is to graduate special education students into regular classes.

“I wasn’t supposed to do anything else but basketball, I think, in everybody else’s mind,” Pittsnogle said.

In two years he played for nine teams, in the Continental Basketball Association, the N.B.A.’s development league, the N.B.A.’s summer leagues, in France and in Puerto Rico.

A teacher at his level makes about $25,000. A four-month season in the N.B.A.’s developmental league pays about the same, but would keep hope for an N.B.A. career alive.

Basketball players should make more than school teachers.

Why? School teachers should make more money.
Thay are much more important. But I guess their money goes for booms in School boards and boards of educations of any kind.

Exactly. Just because some idiots paid Marbury and TMac and clowns like that to make 20M a year to play a kids game - and not do it very well - doesn't mean all WNBA and NBDL players should make the same. In fact, the opposite, how did ANYONE allow a max FA to go beyond 5M dollars a year?

FIVE MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR to play BASKETBALL isn't enough? LOL!!!! Yeah, we need to make it so all basketball SCRUBS can make at least 5M a year right? Right.

They are going to be paid what the teams can afford. If they attracted more fans than the salaries would go up.........Same thing for teachers.

In US we have shortage of 3 millions of teachers only for math. No wonder so many dumb people around.
Do we have shortage of NBDL players?

NBDL players are paid by the organizations that employ them. This money is obtained from the revenue earned by the team, mostly through ticket sales, concessions, advertising sales etc. from the games. The more fans they draw, the more money the teams make, the more money the players make.

Teachers are paid by yours and my tax dollars. Now if they raise the taxes people like you and me cry and moan about our increased taxes.

I have no problem if my tax dollars go to increase teaches compensation. But i have a problem of feeding all the piramid on top of them.
All school should be private and the tutoring of pure should be paid by government to private schools.
We are more socialist already that USSR was.

What are you talking about, the Board of Education has done a wonderful job indoctrinating.....I mean teaching our children.
