My glutious maximus. 31-10-6-hard played defense-numberous deflections. He played awesome in New Orleans too.

No, the game doesn't come natural to him, but that just says how great his work ethic and character is. He's not playing like a role player or even a very good player. He's playing like a star right now. Bite that and chew on it.

See what having an actual point guard does?

...See what having an actual point guard does?...

Yup, Duhon made good use of Lee tonight.

would u rather we signed him up longterm & scrapped the 2 max FA's in 2010 plan, or tried to use him in a trade to get a 1st round pick & maybe dump Curry or Fishlips' contracts in the process?

To me, I'd rather keep Lee then dump him just to get rid of a contract, and ONLY for a first round pick, especially in a questionable draft.

I'd rather keep him, and if it means having the ability to just sign 1 FA, then so be it.

Curry is literally untradeable at this point anyway, with that lawsuit. Keep Lee. I'd love to have Nate too, but if you gotto trade him, then do it. Obviously wait for him to get hot though.

You don't trade players who are playing like stars, for 1st round picks. It's bad business.

With that said, what's our team going to look like, that a free agent will be interested. With no Lee, what do we have? We don't have much attraction WITH Lee, and we have no clue how Gallo will turn out, and we have no clue if we'll be able to re sign Duhon. Might as well just continue building the team. We'll have the space for a big free agent, and probably 2 the year after anyway.

Besides, I'm guessing that LeBron stays in Cleveland.

that's just it tho... we've had D Lee around for a few years now & we've consistently been a horrible team... is it smart to sacrifice a plan to bring in a top name FA to hold onto this guy? in my mind it's not, & i love D Lee just as much as the next guy... i just gotta face facts, i dunno if this guy will ever be the type of impact player we need in our front court to win consistently... he's definitely talented & he plays the game the right way, but will it be smarter to trade him while his value is at its peak, or to sign him up when his value is at its peak?

In this case, you and I will have disagreeing opinions. I just like the idea of keeping our home grown talent and attracting talent that way. I think we can be great if we sign one great player and have a bunch of very good players around him. Hopefully, to say the least, Lee, Gallo, Chandler will be 3 of those very good players. Add in a shotblocker like Thabeet, and a couple of other pieces, and you've got a team.

But like I said, I just think there's a chance that David Lee is turning himself into a boarderline star, and he busts his ars on both ends. If that means being able to only sign one big FA, so be it. I think it would be worth it.

Our losing the past few seasons isn't David's fault. He'd be putting up the same numbers on a winning team.

so u think he'll keep improving at the years go by? i can maybe see him putting up 17 & 12 type numbers over a full season at his absolute peak if his minutes increase to about 37 per game... i would never pass up a chance at signing a cornerstone franchise player to hold onto D Lee tho... i would love to see Donnie somehow be able to dump Fishlips &/or Curry using Nate & Gallo as a sweetener next year tho... that might possibly allow us to hold onto him & still pursue 2 top name FA's in 2010, but that's highly unlikely.

since the trade except that one game he was hurt D Lee is avg

17.4 points 13.5 rebounds 2.1 assists shooting 60% in 22 games

These are all star type numbers and he's only getting better.

Well, Jared is more tradeable. Forget about trading Curry, b/c there's no way that's happening with this lawsuit.

Also, just remember though, Lee is VERY close to putting up those numbers, at this point. He's averaging 15 and 11 and a little over a steal a game PLUS his offensive game is improving A LOT. Maybe on a good team, he'd be averaging a little less points, but he'd still be equally reliable. He's shooting 57% from the field! I just don't see the harm in keeping him. He can be a big piece on a championship team a few years from now.

And imagine, we probably could have signed Lee this summer to a 4 year deal at $7-8 mill per season. If he has 4-5 more games like this before the end of the season, someone will give him $10 mill a season this summer.

Lee's a great rebounder and he's become a good offensive player. As Allanfan says, that's a tribute to his work ethic. I just wish he could play defense.

Regarding the point that we've had him for a few years and we haven't done very well, very few if any players can carry a team. But Lee is the kind of player that you build with.

Chris Bosh & Amare Stoudamire are the types of players u build around.

since the trade Al Harrington's averaging 21.1 points 6.3 rebounds & has 10 games of scoring over 25 points... i wouldn't sacrifice the chance at signing a top FA even if i could sign both those guys instead.

Willie Green once scored 50 points in a game. Not saying I disagree with you, but just saying.
