Bjork is definitely not the usual cookie cutter pop artist (I don't know if I would even call her a pop artist) and you need an open mind when listening to her music. I play some of her music for my friends and they either look at me like im nuts or they really like it.

Portishead, yes. That's another one that the ex introduced me to... and another that I liked better when liquored up. Either one of them are actually kinda relaxing. I actually listen to a good quantity of female singers.

Lately I've been more into some of European (mostly symphonic) metal groups: Nightwish, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, Epica, Leaves Eyes, After Forever, etc... All of them are relaxing and have the interesting format of having an all male band except for a female lead singer with an amazing voice. On the flipside, I've also been listening to crazy screaming women singing that drive my girlfriend nuts... so it's all good.

This thread needs more Pete Rock. :)
