2010 is all you ever hear about, here is a big what if. What if no great star signs with the Knicks? What do we do then? Why the **** can't we build through the draft? For years we have never developed any players, we always go after free agents who always suck as soon as they put on a Knick jersey. Why can't just get it through our frickin head that it doesn't work for us. Do you guys remember when Jordan was approaching free agency we had the money we had Ewing and he still didn't come to the Knicks. Who the **** do we have now to entice these big free agents to come to the Knicks? Please do tell cause I don't see anyone on this roster to say otherwise. Y'all can keep the faith with the Walsh's mumbo jumbo about acquiring talent and 2010, I other hand will not put my heart in this franchise anymore!

Its almost an impossibility for the Knicks to not land an impact player with the cap space they'll have and the sheer amount of impact players available.

But if they really come up empty, they'll have something precious that they haven't had since this CBA existed. Roster flexibility. There will be more players available in 2011. And since they'll be under the cap, they'll be able to make trades without salary matching.

It was pretty much the only chance they had to turn this roster around. Continuing to bandage this with bad trades has already proven to be the incorrect strategy, time and time again.

To have dog happy you need to give the dog a bone.
To keep funs happy you need to give them some close enough time when their team will win big.
So they created 2010. Coll looking number with long list of cool FA names...
So fans can bite this bone and drag it across Internet boards for a while.

The correct answer is that they should be doing both. As Donnie Walsh said about their lottery pick last year, they can't afford to screw it up. That's why their selection of Il Bustino is such a big blow to the organization and why I have much less faith in Walsh to make the right choice in the coming draft. They better have such a high pick that it's a no brainer on who they have to take.

Last year's lottery pick, this year's pick and any picks that Walsh can acquire in his 3 drafts before 2010 free agency has as much to do with the direction of this franchise as what free agents they're able to sign. Based on what Walsh has done so far, they've failed miserably. Il Bustino plus no other draft picks acquired is a ridiculously bad start.

We had no material to get picks and we do not have now. you know this and this is not Walsh of Mike fault. You know who is the guy responsible..

Put the drink down. Walsh and Mikey selected #6 in what many draftnicks call one of the deepest drafts. If Walsh selected the son of Jonathan Bender that is all on him. Atleast we can forgive D'Antoni because he doesn't have a clue what drafting is all about. I am waiting to hear how this organization is going to sell it's pick to save some cap space.

I agree with the initial post. With that, can we please have some more picks where we give up four draft picks for El Fatso, trades so that we can have 1/3 of the team with a criminal record, and guys who never heard of the assist stat? It's been too boring around here, so please more trades where we can have two or three overpaid "stars" who all play the same position and the more they whine and kill team chemistry the better. Plus, I really miss having a $110 million cap! God, I miss the Isiah era!!!

[The above was a piece of satirical fiction.]

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

They would have been better off it he had. At least they wouldn't have gotten another gimp in return.

would we be so much better off w/another undersized PG who's put up worse stats than Anthony Roberson this season like most of the posters around here wanted?

If Walsh can't do better than the average poster on this board, they might as well lock him up in a retirement home now and get a more informed GM in here pronto.

until we see if Gallo has talent it's too early to reach such conclusions.

UltimateKnicks: "where people go to be angry"

Yah damn skippy

I'm just saying we've been down this road so many times before, here are a few of the great trades and free agent pickups:
Houston - $100m man
LJ even though great, was not what he use to be
The great Charles Smith
Tony Cmapbell
D. Harper
R. Blackmon
Spreewell - still feeding his family
Chris 'bitchslap Kobe' Childs

When was the last time we drafted an impact player? Hmmm let me see, Ewing. It's been a long wait here in Gotham.
