This spring, Candace Parker and husband Shelden Williams of the Sacramento Kings are expecting their first child.

Parker was selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks, she was the first woman in the WNBA to win both Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player and she captured her first Olympic Gold Medal at the Summer Games in Beijing.

“Shelden and I are very excited to be expanding our family,” said Parker. “We feel blessed and look forward to becoming parents.”

“We are happy to welcome a new addition into the Sparks family and on behalf of the entire organization we congratulate both Candace and Shelden,” said Penny Toler, Los Angeles Sparks General Manager.

Parker will continue to work out in preparation to participate in the 2009 WNBA season.

Candance Parker is the bomb. Williams is one lucky dude. First, he gets picked 5th when he probably should have gone in the teens and now he is hitting Parker.

Most people figured she was pregnant when they eloped. She's giving up almost $1.5 mil to have the Landlord's kid. Must be love.

Hope for Shelden's sake the baby doesn't come out looking like Dwight Howard.

Dwight and Candace dated a few years ago and the NBA rumor mill had Dwight's still trying to get at her.

The running joke around the league was that Shelden would gladly jeopardize his career (Sac was pissed he went to the Olympics) to make sure Candace didn't come home from China with an NBA player that she couldn't beat one on one. It sounds like he got himself some insurance while he was out there. I ain't mad at him.

That's crazy some ish right there. If I were Shelden I might be doin the same thing with Candace... she's smokin.

Whats up with Shelden anyway? I never thought he was that good at Duke and definitely thought drafting him in top 10 (forget #5) was a reach, but I never thought he would be this bad in the pros.
