The Mavericks and Raptors are discussing a trade that could send Josh Howard to Toronto, according to Hoopsworld.com.

DeSagana Diop and Antoine Wright could also be involved, with Dallas getting Andrea Bargnani and Anthony Parker in return. The deal seems to make sense for both teams, though Toronto would likely be taking on too much salary for the deal to go through exactly as proposed. Stay tuned for updates. Jan. 7 - 2:09 am et

They are getting desperate to keep Bosh. Not a bad deal for them though.

Yeah, Dallas would love to upgrade their center position with him, but if they lose Howard, I don't see their team really improving too much. The destroyed their team when they traded for Kidd. Harris was still improving and would have anchored the PG position for the next 8 years.

this just doesn't make sense. first off, deal isn't legal salary wise.

secondly, bargs + dirk?

thirdly, this would leave the raptors with only jose + kapono as 3 point threats. this would be a radical change to that team.

i'm calling BS. if anything, i could see jermaine being shipped out.

imho, this helps neither team. this would have to be step 1 in a series of moves for both teams to remake their roster.

Getting O'neil in toronto was like us getting ZDump. It just stopped the progress.

I don't know enough of what Toronto is doing but it seems like O'neil was suppose to take them to the next level and instead has knocked them back.

Is the new coach not fully installed the new system? Is it even doable? Is O'neil toxic on and off the court? Still too injury prone?

Barg's could be a good player in the right system. Colangalo im sure wants to kick himself for not getting his boy MDA in toronto for that team.

jermaine was acquired b/c bargs took a step back last season and the raps were a poor reboudning team with poor interior defense.

but the move left the raps with the worst 2/3 rotation in the league. so you have two bigs in there with a pg, but no 2/3 to keep the defense honest.

surprisingly, the bargs progression this year has been impressive (despite what his stats may indicate - you must watch the games and follow the team to know exactly what's going on with him). so this has now made jermaine somewhat available.

d'antoni would have the raps as a contender, but sadly the suns only allowed him to speak with chicago or ny as the suns owner basically loathes colangelo.
