...in our system, he'll have opportunities to handle the ball," Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni said after practice. "That's not something that will always be that way. We want him to be a basketball player. I think he'll like it. He'll have more opportunities."

“Right now, it’s just a matter of me getting my wind back. If I can keep pushing myself harder and there’s no swelling and no setbacks, I think it should be this week. It’s definitely good to know that coach wants me back, and I want to be back and the guys want me back," he said. "It’s a good feeling and right now I’m doing everything I can to get back and be 100 percent."

"We’ll have that synergy of force down there. Guys, they are going to have to double team and if they don’t we are going to make them pay every time. So we are very exited to get him out there on the floor. Obviously, he’s got to get in better shape to run up and down with us. But I think he’s dedicated and he’s ready to get out there and contribute. So I think he is focusing on helping us.”

“Man, right now I’ll do whatever he wants me to do," Curry said. "If he wants me to run the point, I’ll run that. But I’m just going to try to be the best player I can be and just try to fill that void for us.”

I don't like Chris Wilcox. He's a stiff, and an uncoordinated goon.

Meanwhile, back in the jungle...

Chris Wilcox: B-

It’s hard to know which is receding faster–his hairline or the dream that he’ll somehow harness his considerable hops and brawn and become a top-notch power forward. His failures seem to arise more from a lack of guile and skill than effort, but how hard would it be to develop a lefty jump hook? He still finishes an alley-oop as well as anybody.

- Damon

"The Thunder don't win very often, so when they do, it's cause for discussion. All it took was a home game against a Warriors team that plays zero defense for Kevin Durant and Jeff Green to lead the team to just its fourth win of the season.

Durant ended up with 25 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and two blocked shots, basically doing everything possible to ensure victory over a very beatable Golden State club. Green chipped in 26 and eight, and Chris Wilcox had 23 and nine off the bench. Again, should we really be impressed since this took place against the Warriors? Probably not, but for OKC, any win deserves some celebration."

- Brett Pollakoff

Meanwhile, back in the states...

Larry Brown had his universal method of collectively breaking down players and it seems that D'Antoni does the same, but in a more nuanced and individual fashion. Whatever training camp message he delivered to Curry about taking him out of the rotation, injury or no, might have altered the young man's (cough) inflated image of himself.

Eddy's Little Buddy Jamal is gone. Zach is gone and there is a vital 12-16 minute relief role to be played at center.

As Curry works his way back into the rotation and learns the freedom and encouraging vibe of D'Antoni Ball...

... I'm jus' sayin'

Wilcox? Come'on EARL!!! The kid looked good...when he was a kid...and he lit us up for one of those legendary 20/15 type games. Since then he gained a lot of weight, got overpaid, and has slacked right into a comfort zone of SUCK.

No way....!

Besides, why search for players that make us better today? Search for players that make us better starting the 2010/2011 season. If that means a youngin that is under the radar and on a rookie deal even come 2010/2011 and can be a part of a future winning team? That's what you search for.

Not Chris Wilcox!!! Yuck!!!!

Cosmic - Wilcox is only 26, and I feel your angst - but this is an Eddy Curry thread in disguise

Rookies can't be trusted. By 2011 Danilo will be a three year veteran.

The CrafoZackization of Eddy Curry set to begin.
If Mike can do this he is obviously a genious.

If we could get Wilcox really cheap, I would not be opposed to the move. I would be more interested in Westbrook. Now a deal of Lee and Duhon for Wilcox and Westbrook would be something to consider.

As in, for Eddy Curry, then I'd be ecstatic.
Wilcox expires this year though and I doubt OKC is inclined to trade him away and he will want another ridiculous big contract anyways.
Just doesn't fit our plans at all....besides the guy is an overweight uninspired bum. 9 points on 48% shooting, 59% from the line, not even 6 boards a game, not even half a block per game.
Waste of space....

Wilcox and Eddy are in the same class of losers. But we need to have Isiah-like idiot GM on other side to get a miracle trade like this.
Unfortunately Isiah is still somewhere in our dumpster. And we foret to put it out for garbage track pickup. Should stink aroung the area...

franco - if the Knicks can wait two years for Bill Bradley to complete his Rhodes studies, (after fininishing Princeton) they can wait six months for Danilo Gallinari's back to heal completely.

(Wilcox matches up with Lee tonight)

I like that analogy!

ANd Bill when he finally played for the knicks was really not the college star many had anticipated. He was a good player, but the two years at Oxford slowed him down. He was clydes back court partner and he did not take to the pro game until they moved him to SF.

Wilcox

nyk4ever - I will accept your generous recognition with grace and humility

hopefully you will never have to say it again

Let's get him in and get a physical and get it ON!

The Knicks have somebody who can man-up at center, with decent footwork

Walsh IS The Godfather

The shift line of Wilcox - Lee - Harrington - Hughes - Duhon will give EFFORT against anybody
