Two reasons: One due to injuries and the other, no back-up.

We rely basically on six players and nothing to surround them with. Duhon, Harrington, Chandler, Lee, Q and Nate (and possibly Gallinari) are all we have. But don't fail to recognize that these guys are possibly the guys to surround the 2010 picks we will acquire after next season. We're so close to great improvement and if I may remind people, most of us agreed (in our own ways) that this is not it. That our time is coming in 2010. So don't panic.

We suck for sure right now, no question about it. And been sucking for about a decade now. But we are also going according to plan. I don't think D'Antoni should invest too much energy on the court with what we have right now. It's not worth it yet. But when you have a limited amount of players and if any of them are injured, then your not going to win many games.

It's not like what we had the last three years, with a full team, everyone getting some minutes and only having 23, 33, 23 win seasons. We are a limited group. Donnie had' to make the trade to get us some cap room. Donnie had' to put Marbs on the cold oven, because if he wasn't being a distraction in person, his contract is still a distraction anyways. It will all be over soon. Suffer through this season and hang in there. Gallo will be back and we will fill two more roster spots by next year. And if Donnie can get more of what we have in Duhon and Harrington, then I look forward to it.

But most of all, the fans should not self-destruct, just because we're having a bump in the road. We agreed to this development. Stick with it.
I'll never trust this' team again.

If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

Hey 4949, remember in the preason when you were telling us all those stats about the Knicks from the preason and I was telling you preseason stats don't mean anything?

Yeah, I remember what I said. And believe it or not, I still think they can still get to 40 wins. If they can somehow manage 9 more wins by the halfway point, then we have a shot. I understand why their having a hell of a time right now and you do to.

When I said what I said, it was before the Marbury fiasco, or about the same time I said it. We had Zach and Crawford and only Jeffries missing in action. And then suddenly Galo went down, we had the trade and the depletion of crew came along. And who thought D'Antoni would sit Curry all season (so far) and Marbury would be practically totally gone, with his annoying contract still hanging in the balance? Or that Jerome would get very few tries just a few games ago? I wasn't counting on being so depleted. Nobody was.

If you remember, we did start out pretty good around .500 like I said we would and then the trade came, Nate got injured and the few players we had (and still have) were getting a little burned out.

I'm not going to sit here and make excuse after excuse, but I guess I should have mentioned that all of my predicts would stand, as long as nothing big changed. And then it went and changed. So plan B is to just wait, get past it all of this stuff and get better next year. It's a no brainer. Like I said, Marbury will be long gone, and we'll have two more roster spots to fill. Of course Donnie's hoping for a 4 plus million pay day with Mobley gone.

Okay, so it isn't turning out the way I saw it from the beginning. But we have a hell of a future to look forward to. It may not be what I dream of (Lebron) but we finally have an opportunity to vastly improve this franchise. And if I had to say it all over again, I'd do the same. Unless of course I could see the future.

With guys like you, it's a lot easier to just say it will never work. Understandable. We can only try, right?!

And about the stats. There's one thing that they were thriving on and suddenly they weren't thriving on them anymore. The steals and assists. That was a big part of what defense we had and that's what's missing. I wonder why it suddenly disappeared?

Weren't you the guy who made a topic only 7-10 days ago ranting about the Knicks and proclaiming that you will not post here until 2010?

Did Gallo play in the preseason? I thought that he was down since July and that management/coaching staff attempted to play him in the regular season because the pick was called a bust by some immediately after the draft and fans were criticizing it.

I remember people thinking he'd be back right away. And he was and then we found out that D'Antoni should not of played him, because the back is a serious thing. Your pretty much right about what was going on there. I actually forgot about some of that fiasco. But many were led to believe that he would be back. So I based my predicts on what info I had at the time.

On the hang your ars out there thread, I laid it all out there, the ass and balls for all to throw rocks at. It's been pretty much beat'n to a pulp and nothing left to show for it. Hurts like hell to.

What drives you as a Knick fan. What makes you believe enough to come back here over and over again guy? Or did you mean 'your just not following the games'?

Don't panic, the Knicks draft pick is looking better than ever, and odds keep getting better with each loss.

The cast may have changed, but the script is the same: Knicks lottery-bound in 2009.

At least the sequel in 2010 may look better.

I just come here to discuss the Knicks. But my feet are on the ground and my head is not in the clouds. I am realistic about this team for the next 2 years at the minimum and I'm not going to blow up if we lose or celebrate like a maniac if we win. It is what it is.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I think you need to be realistic about building thru the draft because that does not work for the Knicks. They do not draft well and they haven't drafted well. Getting a lottery pick has just meant disappointment the last three times that it has happened. Sweetney, Frye and Gallo are not guys that lead teams to championships. I maybe premature in labeling Gallo as a bust but he was the 6th pick in possibly the deepest draft in the history of the NBA. If Gallo's career comes close to Ryan Anderson I will be pleased.

I for one won't panic, primarily because I have lower expectations for this group of Knicks. Once Walsh began the fire sale... I had a feeling that this would be the trend for NYK. A few "good" wins followed by a slew of bad losses.

There are several reasons why this team is not putting up "W's". The obvious, NYK does not have a true Inside Presence (Eddy Curry should help in this regard), they are a completely perimeter based team. The Knicks do not have anyone that can create shots for others (consistantly) enough to keep opposing defenses honest. The Knicks shoot 3"s at an alarming rate... when the 3 falls, they are competitive for the most part. When they don't hit the 3.. NYK likely takes an L. Or looks really ugly playing. Last but certainly not least.. we do not play good team defense.

The Knicks could stand to have a guard that can breakdown defenders. I like the idea of playing Chandler at the "2" but he has to work on his handle in order to truly be effective.

I think Cuttino would have played a big role on this team. He was a scorer and a terrific defender. Walsh had go thru with the trade because it was Zach's gigantic contract.

Given that we have no center, no shot-blocking, no defensive stallworths, and at this point, no low post scorers, this team is about where you would expect given the injuries. We need a defensive center in the worst way and our young players need to continue to develop. In Duhon, Nate, Lee, Chandler, and Harrington you have some solid pieces at the 1,2, 3, and 4. But we need to upgrade the 5 spot and obtain a defensive PF. We could also use an upgrade at the 2 spot. Simply put, this is a 30-35 win team. So you cannot really be disappointed at this point. Walsh has alot more work to do.
