Just watched this player in person on Friday and visualized him in Mike D'Antoni's system with a big smile on his face.

A big man who can get his shot off inside. A career fg rate over 50 percent

Active around the boards and can get out on the perimeter to guard fluid players

2007/08 - had 10-plus rebounds 18 times…had 17 double-doubles…scored 20-plus points 11 times…averaged career highs in points (13.5), rebounds (7.7) and minutes (31.5)…Shot 52.9 percent (433-819) from the field

This young man could be perceived as a first round draft enigma stuck on a team without an identity - or a talented all-around frontcourt man with excellent footwork, coordination and alertness - poised to bloom in a system tailor made for his skillset.

(handed out a career-high six assists at Portland on 4/7) A big man with passing skills (?), be still my heart... who can get out an run...

26 year old 6'10 Chris Wilcox

He would be pretty awesome with his ability....he was hurt this year. He still is a legit 12-14pt per game scorer.....I think his potential is a little higher.....just a little.

If it were possible to get a guy like Wilcox the Knicks should do it.....Knicks need some help inside.

I know his stats but whats his defense like? He is a good rebounder but so is Lee. We need a defensive presence inside.

The Answer Man Comes Down The Chimney, Late

Q. silverfuel - I know his stats but whats his defense like?

A. For what it's worth, Wilcox was third team all-defense in the ACC. More important, he has excellent lateral quickness. The only problemmatic flaw is that he has never been a big time shot blocker. Listed at 6'10, the Chris may be closer to 6'8 - but his wingspan is off the charts.

From the skill-set perspective, Wilcox would be provide some valuable muscle in the paint - on both ends - desperately missing inside where Lee sometimes gets pushed around.

Not many players share Wilcox' unusual combination of strength, shooting touch and fluid footwork. Put him in a system based on speed, just add water and stir.

And I love David Lee

Wilcox is not the answer in terms of defense. I like him but I still want that shotblocker. It would add that xtra umph to our defense and is sorely needed.

If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

nixluva - you know I ain't got no beef with you but...

I would offer that playing effective defense as a team may not simply require a shot-blocker. Wilcox's defensive technique is solid. Hell, Charles Oakley never blocked a shot in his life but he was able to get in plenty of guys grilles on defense.

I like Dikembe and Marcus as much as the next guy but there are not many shotblocking types that can run the floor and hit the open man. If D'Antoni wants to go 7 seconds or less, that "shotblocker" better be able to keep up in wind sprints.

Chris Wilcox would add muscle. On defense, he can use his upper body strength to let an offensive player feel his presence. He will get his hand in your face and, best of all, he can use his quickness to beat a forward/center to the spot he's attempting to set up in.

Yeah, a shotblocker would be nice but those types don't grow on trees. For me, effective defense is about contesting as many shots possible. Put Chris Wilcox at the four and pair him with a seven footer with some mobility.

2011 Christmas Wish List (with specifications included)

1. 6'3 pass first guard - Duhon (or the best facsimile of Chris Paul)

2. 6'6 assistant guard - (Wilson Chandler) Allan Houston clone

3. 6'10 skill forward - (Gallinari) Tracy McGrady clone (without the injuries)

4. 6'9+ enforcer forward - (Chris Wilcox) Dave DeBusschere clone

5. 7' point center - Chris Bosh (Marcus Camby clone)

Well I would love a shot blocker but do a search of the league leaders and see who's available or who can actually fit what the Knicks are doing.

Wilcox is by no means an all-star player. He's still a live body. He's similiar to Lee. Knick need another player like that to keep the pace going and give Lee a blow when he needs it.

Nothing crazy....but if the Knicks can get him they really should.

EnySpree - people, led by the media, are quick to become enamored with the next new thing.

Give me the old school approach.

I would submit that the "potentially available" 6'9 235 Wilcox (Donnie, make Oklahoma an offer they can't refuse) owns the most favorable skill-set to the flavor-of-the-month 6'9 252 Blake Griffin.

Not the flavor of the month but a player that fits the style of play and a need for the Knicks

Enforcer Blues

Eny - no question. Unless Donnie has some magic dust in his cel phone, the Knicks will never see Blake Griffin.

The symbiotic thing is that Griffin is projected to be the pick of OKC. Wilcox, who plays the same positon, could quite possibly be pried away with some creative persuasion.

Color me pragmatic.
