POSSIBLY LEE INCLUDED

http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/56165/20081224/execs_expect_curry_to_be_traded_to_bobcats/

this is blasphamy. Its not even a salary dump because Diaw deal is long like currys i believe even longer, he might make a few mil less but WHO CARES! I know we can dump curry for an expiring if he starts playing anywhere near decent. He has more value than people think, low post scorers are not easy to find!!!

This is ridiculous, honestly... This trade smells of "coach influence" and those are always the worst trades. D'antoni wants "his guys" u know what this is not a good deal, ESPECIALLY if lee is involved you cant be serious... Do not do this Walsh!!!!
Eddy Curry is getting close to returning to action but his stay in New York could be short lived. The Bobcats have expressed interest in acquiring Curry, who reportedly would welcome a change of scenery.

"I don't know what's going to happen," Curry said. "I enjoyed playing for Larry [Brown] when he was here."

The thinking among some NBA executives is that before this season's trade deadline, the Bobcats will send Boris Diaw and Raja Bell to the Knicks in a deal for Curry and possibly David Lee.

Such a move would save the Knicks an additional $2 million in salary cap room for the summer of 2010.

We should explore what else they're willing to throw in. Maybe we can get them to upgrade their offer with picks or young talent. I agree Curry/Lee for Diaw/Bell is not enough. There has to be a better return. Worth considering in that case.

I could see MDA endorsing this move but it seems to go against Walsh's agenda. Hopefully
Walsh holds his ground doesn't deviate from his plan.

Let's see if Walsh can control . Thomas couldn't hold back Brown from Francis. In the spring when specifically asked about Diaw, Walsh said he wouldn't take back any contracts past 2010. Hmmm...

NO way Walsh includes Lee in a trade that brings us back Diaw and Raja Bell. I refuse to believe that Walsh is that damn stupid. Those cats are scrubs.

We're not that desperate to get rid of Curry.

Trade can't happen until February 10th. Curry is rumored back in 2 weeks. Jeffries just came back. Play them both enough to up their value by the second week of Feb and trade them together to Charlotte for Bell, Diaw, and their 2009 or 2010 1st. No Lee trade.

Now we've swung back the pendulum. Thats too slanted in our favor. No way they give up 2 first rounders for those two --- especially considering how embarrassing of a team they are right now. Those could conceivably be two overall # 1's !!

I'd let Curry get back from his injury and see what else I can get for him. I'd be all for this trade if Curry turns out to be just decent, but there's no way I'm giving up David Lee in this move. If we do, then give us picks unprotected.

I dunno if you guys follow other teams or read the box scores in the paper or at work.......Diaw and Raja Bell are kicking ass in Charlotte.

Diaw's contract is the only thing funny about the trade. It does leave the Knicks without a center.....so those are the flags. Donnie got this though.....if the trade could happen I think it should. Knicks need to continue to improve. This improves the team. Donnie has to continue to stir the pot and get the right talent to improve what D'antoni is trying to do.

Diaw has had a couple of decent games, but he is what he is. He's going to give you about 9 pts. a game over the course of a season. By comparison, Chandler is averaging about 14 a game and he has been taking heat around here for some reason.

Diaw is just a drastically overpaid role player. Would be Shandon Anderson, Spoon, Eisely all over again.

Really without question? Anybody remember how retarded Eddy Curry is? He can't do anything but right and runners. He can't do anything else on the court.

I'm no Curry fan in the slightest, but he is a superior talent in one particular area --- scoring. He can score at an All-star level and as a big man, command double teams.

Again, Diaw is just a wildly overpaid role player. If we've learned anything over the Layden/Zeke years, its that we need to stay away from these cap sucking vultures who have a negligible effect on wins and losses. There are so many players, across the league, who can duplicate Diaw's production for a fraction of the cost.

this is just speculation by some writer... let's wait til we get to the date where those guys become tradeable before discussing such rumors... i have to believe Walsh would not pull off a deal like this w/o at least getting back a 1st round pick... D Lee is way to valuable a trade commodity to use on players like Diaw & Bell.

Remember that we're detting ourselves up for 2010, not 2009.

If we get Diaw and Bell, we can trade them again in 2009.

In D'Antoni's system they should be relatively easy to move as opposed to BigE.

Some of you are proposing playing him just as a showcase. That's not good for this team.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Was saying their 2009 or 2010. Not both picks.

for an unprotected first round pick, its a deal.

Would have to be the 2010 pick or it messes up the 'Bron/Bosh plan.

Curry can score at an all-star level if he is the main focal point and force fed. No way is he at a point where he can anchor a winning team. His scoring ability limited and he often gets the ball knocked away as much as he puts it in the basket.

As far as diaw? You are absolutely right and his name is Wilson Chandler. Raja Bell is in this deal too so that has to be taken into concideration. As far as david lee? Yeah he's worth more and that's the point....he's worth possibly 8-10 mil more per year with his new 6 year contract he's gonna command.

Diaw's problem is he refuses to score. Since he's been in Charlotte he's been scoring like crazy and putting up Caron Butler numbers. The guy is a good all around player. Raja plants himself firmly @ 2 guard.....

I think the Knicks would be better off. Maybe they can sign Camby to the mid level next off-season......I'm just saying....then sign Wade and Nash in 2010? Why not....I'm just saying that the Diaw/Raja for Lee and Curry can make sense for the team as it grows into the finished product.
