This from Hoops Hype

""Bryan's in a panic," said one general manager. Toronto is said to be talking about various options, some of which could include the Bulls. One GM said he's first been trying to unload the expiring deal of Anthony Parker, though that won't yield much. Another GM says he's now hearing the Raptors want to move Jermaine O'Neal. Good luck, I say, with O'Neal making $23 million next season. But here's the thinking: O'Neal for Stephon Marbury, which is perhaps one reason the Knicks continue to hold onto Marbury.

I personally doubted this. My response when I heard this was, "Yeah, right, after Donnie Walsh spent two years trying to unload O'Neal."

But this is the way it was explained to me: The Knicks get something for Marbury and O'Neal comes off, anyway, after next season, so it doesn't affect the Knicks' 2010 free agency plans. Here's the big enchilada in it: Eddy Curry. The Raptors take Eddy, assuming he can play, which means it's certainly another month to see if he's healed and in condition. The Knicks get Eddy's two years after this off the books, which is key for them, and if Eddy can play, the Raptors get a real big man to get the defense off Bosh. For three quarters anyway, as we know in Chicago.

Maybe the Knicks throw in a sweetener like David Lee, whom they may not be able to resign. The Knicks get Parker and maybe a draft pick and the rights to Jorge Garbojosa, who might want to play for Mike D'Antoni. Of course, the other side is if it makes the Knicks look too inviting, Bosh could go there. I personally don't see it."

If the Knicks get a bag of chips for Marbs it could only be a plus. As far as I'm concerned however, with any of these trade rumors, I'll believe it when I see it. No, I'm not from Missouri.

That's not a rumor, it's a writer's idea. And a dumb one at that. Toronto is not trading O'Neal for Curry essentially.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Why not? Curry costs half as much per year as O'Neal.

If anything, Curry + Lee for O'Neal I think is too much.

You guys know I'm not asking for the moon in exchange for Lee, but I think we could get a better package than that. I want building blocks for Lee, young players that can grow into something.

I'm really not interested in packaging Lee with Curry in order to move Curry. Either Curry gets back soon and plays well enough to be moved or he plays well enough for us to use him. That's how I'm looking at Curry right now...

Yeah, leave Lee out of that trade. If we can shed Marbury, great, but let's not go overboard.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Solace and Finestrg, I read this quote in the Times today

“He thinks the Knicks should be under the cap no matter what the scenario is,” Coach Mike D’Antoni said of Walsh, “and then deal from strength, instead of being handicapped with certain moves.”

In the N.B.A., cap room also means flexibility. A team under the cap does not have to balance salaries in trades. It can serve as a bridge in three-team deals. And unspent cap space in 2010 can always be rolled into the summer of 2011.

How about Curry to the Mavs?

If you could combine Curry and Dampier into one player that player would be an absolute beast. As it is the Mavs could put Curry in to provide low post scoring and then put in Dampier when they need rebounding and interior defense.

I put it in the trade checker and Dallas has a host of scrubs with 1-2 years making 1-2 per that could make the money side of the trade work.

With Dallas battling Phoenix for that last playoff spot out west and a rapidly closing window on Ason Kidd's career they just might bite no?

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

Don't the Raptors have Jose Calderon? There is no way you get O'Neal for Marbury. There is no way the Knicks get Marion for Marbury. The Knicks will not get anything for Marbury unless they are willing to take on long term salaries.

I knew there was a catch somewhere. You know something? I'm not impressed with Chandler. Like I said before, why don't we just trade Chandler for something/someone before he sours even more? He'd make a good sweetner himself in a multi deal.
I'll never trust this' team again.
