I don't see how you can really bash the Crawful trade. Anything you complain about Harrington, Craw does worse. And has a longer contract. A draft pick? Why stop there? I'm disappointed we couldn't land LBJ with Craw + our King James + filler.
No- my preference would have been trading Crawford to a contending team like a New Orleans or San Antonio, getting back a lesser player than Harrington, but a draft pick, perhaps in 2010 when we don't have one.
Harrington's a better player than Craw and has a better contract. Any draft pick we could get for Crawford will be inferior to the draft picks we could get for Harrington. It's just gonna take patience but Walsh was right to jump immediately on the opportunity to get Harrington for Jamal.
Edited: I just saw your next reply. I think it's clear that Walsh has a grand plan and isn't just making random trades like Isiah and Layden did. I'll trust him to figure out whether trading or keeping Harrington will fit better with that grand plan.

Yes I agree Harrington seems better, but if we are truly rebuilding, we should be trading for youth and draft picks, not players that are going to be 30 in 2010 and who have a ton of mileage on them from being in the league so long.
If the question was who would have been a better member of Lebron's supporting cast - I think Crawford.
If the goal was to clear cap room, why not get back a lesser talent than Al & a mid level draft pick?
