Do you think he is noticing how poorly managed the Knicks are so far and is really thinking that the grass is not greener on the other side. Food for thought people!!

Imagine how tragic it would be if we got Joe Johnson and Chris Bosh instead.

I really hope he signs that extension so we can stop worrying about him. We will be better off without having to hear his name for next two years, and we can focus on building a more realistic team without all the dreaming.

Why would he say that he wouldn't consider it? But aside from injury, what benefit is their to him signing an extension now? Even if he decided to stay in Cleveland in 2010, why do it now?

I think "poorly mismanaged" is such a biased opinion. Walsh is turning around an ocean-liner here...it takes time. And, he is making decent decisions. AND MikeD has a rep that players love and want to play in his system.

I tend to agree that Bosh and Joe Johnson isn't a bad alternative. JJ at the 2 is such a size advantage on most nights and his ability to play the one is pretty phenomenal. If you get lucky with the vet's minimum, you could have a championship caliber squad in no time.

Regardless, I think the move for the Knicks is to keep clearing cap space fpr 2010 and focus on players that fit within the system. I also cannot stress the importance of players who get to the ft line often and hit their shots. For a team that is outrunning their opponents, putting the other team into foul trouble is a killer.

No, I think he was answering a question and is more concerned with his 22-4 team in 08-09 than he is the Knicks or anyone else 18 months from now.

Why wouldnt Joe Johnson stay with Atlanta? They can pay him 25% more--that is way too much to leave on the table

Don't worry BRIGGS, when Walsh fails as you seem to expect him to, and all the FAs stay with their current teams, Zach and Crawford can be re-signed to the max in 2011 to calm your nerves. With Isiah's franchise cornerstones back in orange and blue we'll be 2011-2012 champs.

Joe Johnson is a small town guy and a southern boy. I know he like Atlanta and Bosh is from the south also and he could bring his hometown a championship

That is true of every free agent coming into bird rights. I cannot say that any of the big free agents won't take the more lucrative contract to stay put. I would say that Bosh is likely to opt out because of the Canadian taxation scheme. If its not JJ, maybe its Dwyane Wade, or Amre and Bosh, or whoever. Somebody will come looking for NY dollars and the love of this city. Its not too hard to fathom. Its funny that you are still jocking DLee's balls when there is so much talent in play for 2010.

NAh, no way they ever leave Atlanta and Toronto!

Briggs and King just said it. There is no way we sign a free agent in 2010. Everyone's going back to their teams.

We are doomed.

Maybe we should give Nate and David Lee max contracts so they don't sign with Portland...

Well its a good thing you never liked LeBron Mr. Sarcasm because it looks like all the major news outlets are carrying this news.

Does it depress you to know that things are not going to work out the way you thought they would?

Maybe we should have held onto Zach Randolph just a little longer in order to trade him for some real assets.

& what's ur point w/that link? i saw the reasoning behind Donnie making those trades then & i still do now.

here is the exact response from that thread i gave u before & nothing has changed from where i stand on this issue:

subzero, u said if we don't get Lebron any alternative would not be acceptable... is that right or am i misquoting u here?

So let me put this in big black and white, we are not going to get LeBron. Do you hear that MS, we are not going to be able to get Lebron (I know your reading this.) and anyone less is a failure.

i couldn't disagree w/u more... whether we get Lebron or not, this was the correct move to make... we now have so many options available to us that we didn't have before... Zach & Jamal weren't gonna lead this team anywhere... we needed to make a trade like this to open up other options in the coming years... now all that's left to do is dump Curry & to make sure we make good use of the draft pick this year.

& how in the hell can u say how things are going to turn out? i never said things WOULD work out for us that way, i said those trades gave us the options to pursue guys in 2010, & as of right now we still do have those options... as far as i know Lebron hasn't signed a thing w/CLE, & even if he does, i've always said 2010 was so much bigger than just Lebron James... i guess u can't let go of that argument of yours that we are officially doomed if we can't get Lebron James but i don't share in that line of thinking.

I don't think it has anything to do with the Knicks. He has his coach in place, he is playing in his home state, he has a team around him that will compete for the eastern conference championship, and he is adored in the state. With the cap structure the way that it is the Knicks cannot do what the Yankees do. If he settles in 09 this must really be bothering him.
