Wow has this guy fallen like a rock. For those who think that Portland wont come strong after Lee--think again. They need Lee real bad as a 6th man who can also step in and start. They have the guards

Well, if management starts to feel teams are going to make good offers to Lee, do you think they will just try to trade him for an expiring and a good young pg or the like? (We will have Gallo and Al, not to mention two big contracts in 2010 to cover for Lee's absence...)

lee's value goes DOWN in the trade market each day b/c the team that trades for him has to make sure he will sign an extension to stay there. for all intents and purposes, lee is an expiring player as well.

I can see that but I also see it more as a sign and trade if they REALLY want him.

As a restricted free agent we can always sign-and-trade him. If thats the worst that could happen, especially with a team so loaded with young talent like Portland.

But no, its the end of the world, Lee will demand a max contract, Nate too, the Knicks will not be able to do anything about it and everything will be ruined. Everyone happy now?

I would still do Lee for Frye & Bayless (but perhaps be bold enough to pursue a # 1 with that).

I actually think that's a fair trade - Frye, Bayless and their 2009 or 2010 #1 for Lee. We'll see what happens around the deadline, but my guess is a guy like Kevin Pritchard decides to play it cool with Lee around the deadline and go with what he has for now then look to sign him to an offer sheet in the off-season this way he doesn't have to part with any assets. We'll see - nice win last night and they're a good team but still might be a little short - I agree, they could use a guy like Lee - I've been saying it for months.

A couple of questions -

(1) What kind of a contract do you think Frye will get? What's he worth? I mean he has some potential in a MDA system but he hasn't done a thing in this league yet. He's definitely not getting Lee type money ($8-10 million) maybe not even Maxiell type money (4 yrs., $20 mil.). What do you guys think? He does have a qualifying offer coming up next yr. at $4.2 million.

(2) Trade Lee for Frye, Bayless and possibly a 1st rounder OR go get Courtney Sims and Smush Parker from the D-league??

I think Frye is looking at the league min. or LLE for his next contract.

Yeah, it would have to be something like this to make the salaries work. That's the thing with moving Lee - If he should be moved, you would want to move him now for salaries that are at a minimum and under control through the 2010 FA period. Webster just reuped, Frye's gonna be looking to get paid next yr. himself and Bayless is making $2 mil. this year, over $2.1 next yr. - now you put that together with Curry's and Jeffries' contracts which will be hard to move and there's your problem. Not sure if this helps us when it comes to 2010 FA. It's almost like if we decide to move Lee this year it's only got to be for a promising player or two still on their rookie contracts until AFTER 2010. And possibly a 1st round pick if Donnie could manage it. That makes the most sense by keeping added salary for 2010 to a minimum.
