This preseason, D'Antoni talked about his enthusiasm for JJ and his belief that he could really help the Knicks this year. At the moment, I don't see the significant value that Jeffries offers the Knicks. Is Jeffries possibly not up to speed yet from his injury? Was D'Antoni sending a "wake up" message to Eddie Curry, Zack Randolph or even David Lee? Wondering what you think D'Antoni's early positive statements about JJ were about and if he was possibly mistaken?

I take everything MDA says at face value. Dude broke his leg. I say give him some time. I expect him to play well like he was in Wash

Yea give him some time for the bone to get some life back. The bone will be good, in his leg, the bone. He will be ok. JJ will contribute SO MUCH for us this season, it's not even gonna be funny.

I'm starting to think that ANY player can be useful in this system. Outside of fat people like Curry and James, I mean.

It's not the bone that is the big source of he problem IMO. i think it's the lower leg muscles. They have to have gone thru some atrophy after not being able to stand on the leg and workout. It doesn't take long for muscle to shrink away. Perhaps it's a combination. Muscle helps to take pressure off the bones, so I would think that the leg is experiencing more shock from the weak support from the foot up.

I can see that Jared has made some improvements skill wise. His shot looks better and I think in time he should fit in well. His presence will save Lee some unnecessary wear and tear.

You may be right, nuxluva, may be. But the bottom line is that he messed up his bone, so now we're waiting for his bone to get right, and everything that comes along with the bone messing up/healing. So you see what I mean?

That said, once his bone issues are ok, he will be FORECFUL, FEARFUL for us, because MDA knows how to use tweeners like him.

Trying to con some stupid ass GM into trading for him. Zach, Jamal down and Curry, Jeffries to go. He's going to compare Curry's struggle to MLK next week, bank on it.

JJ is a pretty good player......If you never give him the ball.

I had a friend named Don Regan. We used to call him DR. He thought it was a cool nickname and that we were calling him the Doctor. He was so proud of himself. He didn't realize that he was a horrible basketball player and D.R. actually stood for "dribble renewer". He was the guy you passed to when you picked up your dribble by mistake. Then after you pass it to him you scream at him until he passed it back. That's what the Knicks need to do with JJ. You limit his touches you raise his value.

He's not a shut down defender, but he's pretty solid. He does have an impact on the offensive boards and on the defense.

rvwink Obviously Has Never Met The Answer Man

Q. rvwink - Is Jeffries possibly not up to speed yet from his injury?

A. Jeffries is not up to speed because he was never a burner to begin with. Jeffries has the grace of Big Bird, but somehow manages to make a valid contribution. With that said, a broken leg is nothing to joke about. I worry about long term tissue and nerve damage.

Q. rvwink - Was D'Antoni sending a "wake up" message to Eddie Curry, Zack Randolph or even David Lee?

A. Nah. Coach Dan's message to the frontcourt competetion was crystal clear from day one. "You want minutes? You earn minutes." Eddy understimated his place in line and paid the price with the red badge of DNP. Zach had a blast. David Lee? The Answer Man loves David Lee. But not so much that he kvetches daily over what cost Lee will be resigned, or not.

Q. rvwink - Wondering what you think D'Antoni's early positive statements about JJ were about and if he was possibly mistaken?

A. D'Antoni is the polar opposite of Larry Brown. Rather than tear dudes down, he builds them up. Amazing how that works.

JJ is at best a good 16th man to come off of the bench. I dont care if Dantoni says the guy is the next Clyde Drexler, I still think(know) hes a bum

Man, you just make these stories up. You always got a story. You always knew some dude or coached some team or had some other comparable situation. You ain't fooling me with your basketball parables. You're a fraud Bip. Now let's argue until you beat Isles to 10K.

I had some hope for Jeffries under DAntoni and his first game back he did those little things that make him valuable in games but it's obvious he can't do it every night and obvious he can't stay in shape so I guess whatever optimism I had again was misguided.

Either he or Curry needs to get healthy enough to get traded though. We've done good with the 2010 cap so far but to really cash in one of those two have to be out of here. Preferably Curry and his larger deal but it's probably more realistic that Jeffries could be moved...although even he has a nasty 15% trade kicker.

Isiah, you suck.

None of them are made up. 100% true. I just remember the funny details of my life. You don't have stories because your life is boring. That's right I said it.......boring.

Actually this reminds me of a story. I used to have this friend that I posted with on some of the Basketball boards. His name was Ivel. This dude was such a jackasse. We actually used to call him jackasse. Man, those were good times.
